Stretch Marks

  • I was just wondering if stretch marks start going away after you lose weight or what you can do to make them less visible if they don't go away?
  • In my opinion and from what I understand, You can't do anything about them. They are like a scar but worse. There are TONS of creams and ointments claiming to get rid of them but they dont. It has more to do with skin elasticity and genetics. I have lots...but then again so does my sister who is only 24 and only 130lbs. And was never overweight. So does my hubby for that matter (he lifts weights) So I know most ppl have em as adults and those who have none are the exceptional few.
  • I have tons from having twins. They don't go away, they do however fade with time.

I simply don't worry about them. I have them, they're not going anywhere and I can't change that, so why waste my time fretting? I've got tons of more important stuff to fret over. Like, what's for breakfast?
  • I have four kids and four sets of stretch marks. They fade, but they don't disappear.
  • The only thing you can really do is keep well hydrated and moisturize (to help your skin's elasticity out some) but it won't get rid of them. Cocoa butter is supposed to be really good at helping with that. They'll fade and will become a lil less noticable with time but aside from surgical procedures there's not much to do about them.
You can always ask a dermatalogist to recommend a cream/treatment if they really bother you.
  • The person who figures out how to make them go away will become a billionaire!

    Me too

Each one of those stretch marks is like a trophy to me.. and even though they are ugly, I LOVE every one of them.
  • Yeah, I just figure they're my mommy battle scars from my children and another record on my body of the things I have achieved in my life. They make me, me. Mine were purple/red and deep on my very pale skin, but even my slightly unobservant husband noticed they had faded almost completely to white. The scoremark/dents were still there but much less visible.

I wish I could call mine "mommy battle scars", but alas, I'm just a man.
  • I have hardly any, and what i do have are very light and kind of blend in with my skin. I guess that's luck.

4th time is a charm, me to.
  • i have them from when i was pregnant on my belly, lower back and thighs. they dont bother me, easy to hide, brought to me by my wonderful son and have faded to pale silvery lines, but the ones on my upper arms drive me crazy, like a constant reminder that i have put on so much weight!
  • A few years back I gained a LOT of weight very quickly, resulting in very large and deep red stretch marks all over my stomach. They've faded to white now, but the grooves they left behind still bother me. I've never been pregnant, and I'm so jealous of girls that get pregnant and don't even get stretch marks! I'm hoping once I have kids (if I can, I have PCOS) they won't bother me as much.
