  • So I graduated in 1999, and my class had its 10 year reunion last night. When I got the info in the mail I wasn't sure I wanted to go. I mean, in school I was the smart girl who was quiet and had only a small, core group of friends (who weren't going to the reunion). Oh, and I was also the fat girl, who never had a boyfriend and had ZERO interest from guys throughout 12 years of school.

In the end my husband and co-workers convinced me. And I'm glad they did. People had grown up a lot, and I spent some time talking with others I hadn't talked to in years. Except that "one" group of girls...every school has them. The ones who were always too good for everyone. They didn't speak to me. Really only one of the girls did, to tell the truth....

But the guys did. When the subject of my weight loss came up (I've lost 80 pounds and am maintaining...but was likely heavier in high school than when I started my loss), all heck broke loose. I started getting comments from the men about how good I looked, etc. My husband didn't care, either...he just ate it up. He told me on the ride home that four of the guys told him I looked good, was hot, etc. They didn't even recognize me walking up to the building where the reunion was held, until I got closer and they saw my face.

    Just made my WEEKEND.
  • WOOT WOOT!!! Yay that sounds awesome! Good for you!
  • Awesome! Sounds like you have a secure, appreciative husband, too!!!
  • Wow I love this story
  • Fantastic!

Reunions are ... well, there's no words for it, is there?
  • LOL----OH! I LOVE IT! I LOVE IT! I LOVE IT!

LOL--I hoped you enjoyed looking amazingly HOT. I hope "that group" looked like doggy doo doo! LOL--can I say that? I hope they enjoyed the ride home knowing YOU were the gal that got the attention.
  • That's awesome! Sounds like your husband handled it pretty well too
  • You are inspiring! I love when the smart girls and/or people who didn't fit in too well in high school get to show everyone. I take it as a win for the team!
  • That is so great! I am sure that it gave you a huge, well deserved confidence boost I love to read stories like these. I am feeling a little depressed tonight and your story defiently put a much needed smile on my face

  • From one "smart" girl to another- It feels absolutely FANTASTIC when you are FINALLY recognized for your
OTHER attributes - beyond your brains!

    What a GREAT story!

Enjoy your success! You have worked hard and DESERVE every inch of it!
  • it's so great.to see friends after 10 years...
so great! i am looking forword to meet my friends again.
  • Good for you. You sound a lot like me. Lost 80 lbs, was the smart kid, and had ZERO friend. I'm dreading my 10 year renion in 3 years too.
  • Thanks, y'all! And YES, my husband handled it all very well. In fact, I think he had MORE fun than I did...they may invite him back for the 20 year reunion, with or without me...
  • That's such a great story! That would make me feel so good. You deserve that, though. And you're husband sounds like a fun guy. Haha.
  • Love it!! Glad you got to enjoy that moment... my 10 year is next year and I'm hoping for the same experience!
