Tailgating food?

  • Okay fellow chickies, here it is almost mid September and in the south we are all about having a tailgating party on Saturdays during college football season.

I managed okay last Saturday by broiling some chicken wings, eating celery sticks with very small amounts of ranch, low fat spinach dip with fat free crackers with my sweet being some cut fresh fruit.

But the menu and theme changes weekly and I gotta keep up with adding some lower fat healthier options that will keep me away from the stuff that got me to 270 pounds in the first place.

So will you help me out with telling me all your favorite apps or party food that will save me and my waistline this football season.
  • Hubby and I love kabobs. We will get large shrip and skewer them, put some light butter mixed with garlic powder on them and thow them on the grill, for Labor Day we had chicken breast chunks with pineapple and bell peppers on skewers cooked on the fire.

For "hot wings", one of our very favorite foods in the world, we grill chicken breast until they get a bit crispy on the outside, then I cut them into strips and coat them in a mixture of hot sauce, light margarine and garlic powder.
  • Chili is a good option. So is, anything grilled, including all kinds of veggies. You could even do some grilled fruit. MMMmmm....

You could do a mexican fiesta tailgate.
