Gift for a friend

  • One of my friends is going through a very bad time right now. She's in California (I'm in Ohio) so obviously I can't go see her. She doesn't want to talk either. I would like to send her something to cheer her up a bit. But what? She married with four little boys. She doesn't get a lot of "me" time...none actually. She's overwhelmed with life and things aren't going well. She loves Trader Joes, Starbucks and praise & worship music.

Any ideas? I know I could get her a card and some nice soap. Chocolate would probably melt right now. I can't think of anything else.
  • Spa gift certificate, tickets to a concert, Edible Arrangements (or similar company) fruit bouquet?
  • Studies have shown that having flowers in the home has an immediate, positive impact on mood. Yes, they're temporary (a flowering plant is a nice alternative), but they have a longer-term impact on mood and depression. And who doesn't like the warm surprise of opening the door and seeing flowers there? http://www.associatedcontent.com/art...od.html?cat=51

Most florists stock chocolates or other gourmet edibles if you wanted to tack something on of that nature (they won't melt during delivery from a local florist to your friend), and the florist can take your card message over the phone.

Something to consider, in any case.
  • flowers would be really nice.

maybe a "you time" kind of care package - some nice pampering stuff so she can maybe spend an hour in the bathroom alone, take a bath, do her nails, whatever... and a gift card to starbucks to keep her going, burn a CD of some good music to listen to maybe while she's relaxing in the tub, maybe a no-brainer magazine to flip through while she soaks?
I'd be freaking thrilled if i got a care package like that. maybe a nice card just saying you're thinking of her and are here whenever she needs you. a calling card so she doesn't have to pay to call you?
