  • I was glad to find out about the fat and proteins info yesterday...it brings some clarity to what is going on with my food intake...Now I have to walk my talk and get my menu and correct food supplies on board..this requires planning and simple strategy...so tonight I will do the shopping for the fat free items that I want and look foods with high sources of protein (a google search will gimme the answer) This takes a lot more work than what I thought it would but Im saving myself a lot of money and heartbreak by not running to Jenny Craig or Herbal life. Those programs may work for some but I havent had any success with assisted weight loss programs. I need to explore and record what Im tossing into my mouth and I hate prepackaged diet food and vitamins that make me feel like Im on speed...lol...so have a good day all and thanks for caring about me....

  • This is a great list. Thank you.
  • Grocery shopping takes a lot longer for me than it used to.. Simply because I check the nutrition label of everything I pick up. I certainly didn't used to do that. I find healthier food to be a bit more expensive, but I absolutely believe it is worth it!
  • glorious gloria, of course we CARE!!! we all care about each other on here, and we want you to be successful in this, that's why we're all offering opinions LOL Robin's list is awesome print that out and take it with you LOL makes life easier!!! Remember, you shouldn't be MISERABLE with what you're eating. yes, it's going to be different from what you/we used to eat, but that's a good thing - you'll learn new things But please, don't FORCE 'healthy food' down your throat because it's good for you LOL Find something healthy that you LIKE, otherwise it'll be a chore

I find it's a lot easier eating nice healthy stuff, because you dont' really have to check a label on an apple right?? or fresh meats?? it's just FOOD Once you know the basic info, believe me it gets a lot easier, and you'll end up putting the same things more or less in your cart, week after week. For me, I tend to buy:

    chicken breasts
salad fixins - whatever's on sale
fresh fruit - again what's in season/on sale/ frozen on sale etc.
cottage cheese - love it for breakie!
    1% milk
tinned tomatoes in all varieties, helps with a quick supper
lite popcorn for a once-in-a-while treat
fibre cereal - that's 'good for me' not so much 'tasty for me' lol or i'll too much
organic ginger cookies - 5 cookies for 100 cals, i like a treat after dinner
    nice grainy bread
these awesome w.wheat flat bread hamburger buns - i use 'em for sandwiches
some deli meat - i usually get the lean or fat free
kraft lite Balsamic Vin. dressing - i like it over sliced red peppers & cukes!

You can do it Gloria!! we're all pulling for you
  • Now that's a great shopping list!

Last night I made myself a snack of rye toast, a smidge of butter, 1 oz of cheese, onion and tomato. I put it under the broiler to melt. The I sprinkled it with Basil. I nearly died with pleasure. Much, much better than the bowl of ice cream I would have had only three weeks ago!

There's a whole new adventure waiting for you Golria! So glad you're in better spirits!
  • You rock Have fun shopping and let us know how it goes!!!
  • Hey Gloria. Just wondering, how'd your shopping expedition go?
