Talking to a friend yesterday about the upcoming trip to Spain. I told her I'd lost 3st (42) and she actually said, well done! She finds it hard to compliment me when I lose weight, because she struggles with weight too, although she's currently at a very healthy weight through much effort.
Then she said, 'When you go on holiday, don't diet. Enjoy yourself, you're on holiday.'
It felt like she'd suddenly started speaking Klingon. So I said, 'There's no way I'm going to regain what I've worked so hard to lose.'
'Yes, but you're on holiday. Enjoy yourself.'
'I WILL enjoy myself but I don't need to stuff myself to do that.'
We moved on, she was getting edgy; but I was really pleased - and grateful to the chix here - that I've truly moved from thinking of my weightloss efforts as something I can pick up and put down, something to be unhappy about. I'm SO happy with how things are going, while I can imagine eating the 'wrong' thing accidentally because I can't work up the Spanish for ?how many calories in That? I completely can't imagine choosing to eat the pounds back on.
So woohoo! and thankyou for nudging me into the light!
