  • I read in a magazine that for loosing wieght you should make a list of all the benefits of loosing and maintaining a healthy weight and adding to the list if you think of other things along the way.
I thought it was a good idea.

    so here's mine:

I will be more relaxed and at ease in everything i do.
    I'll be happier.
My clothes will fit better and look nicer.
I'll be able to fit into stylish LLbean clothes in the magazines.
I might be more attractive to the opposite sex...
I'll feel healthier and more alive.
I'll feel less inhibited to try new activities.
I will be reducing the likely hood of developing diseases later in life.
I'll be more active and productive into my old age.
i'll get a feeling of accomplishment from my success.
  • Mine is shopping for little clothes.
    Increase of self confidence.
  • I will be healthier and more active
    I will be more outgoing
    I will have more confidence
    My clothes will look great
  • My pros of losing weight:

    Be healthier
    Buy smaller clothes
    Look better for my husband
Feel more confident about my curves

  • My pro's:
Be healthier going into my pregnancy- if it ever happens
be able to keep up wiyh my child- when he comes
be able to keep up with my husband on hunting trips
  • Prevention of diseases associated with obesity & lack of exercise
To grow old in a healthier form
To give my young kneecaps a break (too much weight on this short frame)
To increase my chances of having a child (maybe)
Look more attractive (I'm fine, but fat does take a toll on you)
    Wear smaller clothes
Be able to tackle things w/o weight hindering me
Walk in heels and boots (maybe)
  • oh, that's a good one nonabee.

to take weight off my knees and lower back, so hopefully i can start running again, or at least be pain free in my everyday activities.
  • Quote: To give my young kneecaps a break (too much weight on this short frame)
I know what you mean! My knees were hurting so bad, I could barely walk! They hurt now from running sprints, but that's ok..lol

Quote: Look more attractive (I'm fine, but fat does take a toll on you)
LMAO @ fat taking a toll on you! I know that's right, honey! We are fine, but we can look finer...lol...

Quote: Walk in heels and boots (maybe)
I do this now, I love heels, I figure if Monique can strut around in heels, then so can I!! I'll teach you how to walk in them, if you want..lol...
  • Pros of losing weight:

    * overall better health
    * pre-diabetes will go away, according to my doctor
    * maintain an active lifestyle and make it about me and not anyone else
    * feel better about myself
    * in healthier condition to TTC and have max. 2 children
    * can't wait to fit into the pile of clothes I've been hanging onto for about 5 years...that are still in style!
    * potentially buy myself my first pair of 2" + heels!
    * age well and be proud of who I have become
    * eat less processed and more natural foods i.e. better awareness and understanding about what my DH and future family is eating
    * learn to love going to the gym and being active
    * look half decent in a bathing suit
  • Pros for me:
Riding a roller coaster without feeling like I'm lodged in.
Wearing high boots. I can't get anything zipped past my calves.
Being able to buy regular sized clothes from regular stores.
Being healthier overall and not feeling winded with little activity.
  • I'm going to be a little late to the thread.

    Pros for me:
    - look good in a pair of underwear
    - not get nearly as winded when I am sparring and performing kata in my karate class
    - be a sexy-looking black belt (and make the other guys pay more attention to me as a woman, but not in the attraction-sense; I guess to just have them aware of what I am, coz right now I'm just one of the guys)
    - confidence
    - ability to wear boots over my calves (I got fat calves) and nice skirts
    - get more flexible than what I am now (I can do a full side split, but my tummy's preventing my head reaching the floor on other stretches)
    - look like I have curves, rather than spare tyres
    - feel as sexy as I look
    - to show my family that I'm NOT going to be fat forever (everyone has their time, and my time is now)

    and last but not least
    - to set a good example for other girls and women who want to lose weight.
  • * to eleviate the pressure on my feet caused by my weight. My knees are okay but I've had chronic plantar fasciitis in my feet which I know is due to weight because each pound l lose causes my feet to hurt less and less.

    * to look hot for my husband

    * to show my kids what healthy looks like. My 8 year old was getting chubby and it scared me that she'd follow our unhealthy ways. She's lost 6 lbs. in the last 9 months! She has a couple more to go but I'm not pushing.

    * this is a weird one but I used to be a back sleeper. I got out of the 'habit' because it was too hard to breathe if I slept that way. I noticed that now that I've got some weight off, I can sleep on my back no problem- less excess fat in the middle to put pressure on my lungs.

*to push off type 2 diabetes for as long as possible- I'm genetically loaded for it but I can prolong or maybe even avoid it altogether if I get and keep my act together.

*to FEEL better about myself. I'm an ambitious person and have some big goals to achieve outside of weight loss. Presently, my weight is hindering that progress so it has to go!

  • Oh I like this thread! My pros:
To feel healthy and have more energy
    To save my knees
To be able to wear a pair of knee high boots
To be able to wear short skirts that make my husband's head snap around again (I used to when we first met, I was 17..so this may be unrealistic lol!)
To get rid of this damn fat had two babies tummy!
  • Me too! The benefits of losing weight for me:
Shopping for clothes will hopefully be a less traumatic experience - no more bursting zips / into tears in the changing room
I'll be able to buy clothes based on what I like rather than getting whatever covers the most wobbly bits
I'll be able to wear a swimsuit without people congratulating me on my pregnancy
Hopefully I'll feel more comfortable in my own skin
    I'll feel sexier
    Clothes will look better
I'll feel fitter and have more energy
I'll have the confidence to join a dance class and not feel like an elephant in the room
I'll be really proud that I've achieved my goal
  • be healthier
    buy clothes anywhere
    more self-confidence
    not obsess about food&weight anymore
    have more energy
And, no matter what anyone says about me they can't say that I am fat!
