  • I lost 20 pounds so far why am I still the same size? I thought I would have atleast gone down a size by now.
  • Can I ask how much you weigh? It can make a difference....
  • i understand, i've lost 17 and my clothes still fit the same, i figure it will take about 40lbs to notice a difference.... upsetting as it is, i'm gonna keep up the fight, but it is so very frusterating to not be able to go down a size!
  • I have lost 28 lbs and I'm still the same, I hate it!
  • If it makes you feel any better i can lose 30 pounds and then put it back on and i am still a size 16.. It is weird how our body works..

Please dont worry about it.. I always stressed over the jean size thing and that is what made me put the weight back on because i thought even thought i was loosing the weight i still didnt look ok since clothing sizes were not going down, and then i would get depressed and be back where i was a few months ago.

As long as you know you are losing and that you feel good then PLEASE dont worry it will all show soon.

Congrats on what you have lost and keep up the great work!!!
  • I noticed the heavier I am the more pounds I have to lose to go down a size. But now that I am smaller it only takes like 10 pounds vs 20 to go down a size. THe heavier you start the more places the weight comes from at one time instead if it all coming from like your waist and thighs only. I hope this makes sense. THe smaller you are the less places the weight has tocoem from.
  • It also depends on where the weight is coming off. For example, if you lost mostly on your upper body, you might go down a shirt size but stay the same in pants. Or the other way around. If a lot came off around your waist but your hips/butt and your bust were the same size, you might not go down sizes at all (but I'd bet you'd look better in your current size!).

Congrats on the 20lb loss, that's awesome!
  • All bodies are different- I have lost over 20 lbs, and I am still not sure if I am down a whole size yet. It all depends on where you lose, and how much you weigh to start. Just keep going... eventually it will happen!
  • If you are tall it seems to take QUITE a bit to go down a size. Hang in there sweetie, you are making changes and it WILL show!
  • A friend and I were talking about this same thing yesterday. I have lost thirty-ish and haven't dropped a size, but I' was wearing this size yet another fifteen or twenty pounds ago, so I figure once I hit about another twenty, the sizes will change more dramatically after that. Like somebody said above, when you're really really heavy like I was and still am, the fat has a lot of different places to come off of, like the face and arms and back, which don't really affect jeans sizes. Once the body get a good bit of that out of the way, it can start shedding belly and bottom and leg fat, which is when you really start to see a difference in the way your clothes fit.
  • I totally agree with freshman andcakebatter. You will have to lose a bunch of weight from all around before you start dropping sizes, but you will start dropping sizes faster as you lose more weight.

Just don't get discouraged! 20 pounds means you've made some awesome healthy changes to your life and I'm SURE people around you can notice!

    Keep up the good work.
  • Thanks for all the responses im glad im not the only one thinking about it. I thought I was maybe being obsessive I started out at 214 and im down to 193. I went to the store to find a new shirt to wear out and im still in a xl. This is only gonna make me work harder
  • The other factor is your body composition. If you crash diet, you will tend to lose a lot of lean mass along with fat. If you diet slowly and weight train, you will tend to gain muscle mass while losing fat.

A person who does the former will see bigger results on the scale than in how they look. A person who does the latter could stay the same weight, and still be smaller and firmer.
  • It took me 30 pounds before I comfortably dropped a size...I would imagine that if you're tall, it might take a little more...

we lose weight in all sorts of places. face, arms, feet, stomach, etc.....I lost close to 40-50 lbs before I went down a size, then it took less to get the next size lower and so on....
