Hooray! Enabler = 0 , Me = 1

  • As I get started on my weight-loss, a small victory was achieved today and I wanted to share it, as others may face the same obstacle.

I have lunch with my parents every Saturday. Like many others, my mom is my #1 Enabler. I phoned her two days ago to let her know that I had started MRC and that I would be bringing my own food on the weekends. She reacted by going to the grocery store and buying EVERYTHING that I love.

I showed up today with the bowl containing my salad (measured, weighed and prepared at home) and my 32oz bottle of water. Sure enough, the kitchen was lined with my favorite goodies: German chocolates and candies, Pepsi in the fridge, ice cream in the freezer.

My mom tried to push the treats off on me for the entire time I was there. I was kind but firm in my "No, I cannot have that."

I made it through three hours of temptation and for that, I am proud. The only food that I consumed was the salad I brought.
  • Good for you for planning ahead and FANTASTIC that you were able to withstand 3 hours of temptation! I will keep you in mind for inspiration while I try to do the same at the family Easter celebration where I am only partially in control of the menu.

  • Whenever you have a difficult time.. think back on this moment, because... WOW thats. is. determination! And that is a HUGE victory.
  • I'm telling ya, it was one of the hardest things ever to do. I just love those German chocolates.
  • That is awesome. You need to reward yourself. Next time you go for a walk, pick some flowers by the road side or stop at the store and pick up a little bouquet! You deserve it
  • That is amazing - congratulations!
  • Awesome. This great feeling lasts a lot longer than chocolate, huh? x
  • im really feeling ya on this issue. My mom is my #1 enabler aswell. She always wants to take me out to eat or order me food. Tonight I ordered salad yay!!!!
  • Fantastic! You did great!
  • Way to look temptation in the face!
Also, bringing your own meal was smart.. That way you weren't scrounging around for something diety and not finding it.
I think I'll use that Idea when I go to visit my Dad!
    Congrats on not caving!
