Hello from Scotland

  • Hello Everyone,

My word this site is huge - I don't really know where to start! Looking around I could fit in so many areas and may find myself flitting around a bit as I settle in.

My story: I was concious of my weight and looks from an early age, but never had big problems. I gained weight quickly when I first learned to drive as I wasn't walking or biking so much, then again when I started drinking, and again when I settled down with my now husband.
In 2002 I hit my largest weight of my life 168 lbs and embarked on a healthy eating plan - mainly cutting out the alcohol and reducing portion size did it. Within 18 months I had gone down to 120 lbs my ideal weight.
This couldn't be maintained and I eventually settled at 125 / 130 lbs for the next few years.
At the beginning of 2006 the weight was starting to creep up and in planning my wedding for November 2006 I decided I needed to get back in control.
On my wedding day I weighed 115 lbs - my best as an adult.
Since the beginning of 2007 my weight has crept up and up - despite me introducing more and more exercise.
The major turning pointfor me came in September 2008. I was taken into hospital with pneumonia. This resulted in me quitting smoking after 20 years.
In my recovery I was also craving cigarettes and ate and ate and ate.
I got on the scales in January with 154 lbs against me.

So now I'm on plan again - I am seeing a dietition through my GP referal so she is helping construct a personal eating plan.
My biggest realisation is that I used to smoke to control my eating - now I have neither.....

Oh, Also to add, I'm back at the gym and interested in those forums too. It's amazing how many peopel are out there with similar issues.
heres to getting on that first step!
