  • Hey! I got good news today!

When I first got my health insurance, I was heavier, and they rated me with a "50% premium risk rating" because of my "build." In other words, I paid a lot more!

After I had lost weight, I had my M.D. document the loss in my medical file and make me a copy. Then after a year, having maintained the same weight (and actually being down a couple of pounds), I had my current chiropractic physician (D.C.) confirm my weight with an official letter. Then I wrote to my insurance company asking them to remove the premium risk rating and enclosing the documentation.

Well, it took my company FOUR months, but they did it! This makes a big, big difference to me because I'm self employed and pay for my own policy. Why, the savings will offset my gym membership and a lot more!!!

So I just wanted to tell all you 3FCers--not only will you feel better and look better if you lose weight and keep it off, but you may also find unexpected benefits!

  • How cool Jayell. If I lived in the US I would definitely do the same thing. A lot of people probably don't even think about doing that after weight loss and they could save some major $$$.
