Buy the book or the atkins.com

  • Hi. I was wondering if you realy would need to by the book for the atkins diet. I usually refer to the site (atkins.com) for what's allowed and the stages but is reading the book better and more motivating..?
  • Hi there OneDoubleZero:

Before embarking on Atkins, read this!

I think it may help answer some of your questions.
  • Thanks Faerie.
  • I can not stress enough...BUY THE BOOK...Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (2002 or prior). Do not rely on Atkins.com because since Atkins Nutritionals Inc. took over after Dr. Atkins demise, lets just say, they aren't true to what the good Dr. wrote. If you must refer to a website regarding the true Atkins plan, I'd recommend: http://www.veronicaatkinsfoundation.org/lifestyle.htm

    All the best to you!!
  • I got all of my Atkins books (I own 3 or 4) cheap or free. One was a gift and the others I found at thrift stores. The library is another free option.
  • Read the book. You really need to absorb a lot of information in order to be in synch with Atkins. It is a lifestyle change, not a short-term diet--but--it works miracles.
  • I agree with what everyone has said before - buy and read the book. Its a great reference to have while on Atkins. I bought my book used for really cheap off amazon.com. =)

  • Leenie
  • I went to Coles to buy the book. But it was the ones releases from the Atkins company. They don't have the original one written by dr. aktins
