Help for DH

  • So my DH is toying with the idea of loosing weight, honestly I'd love to see him reach a healthier weight too. Where can I find out how many cals he should be eating? He's 5'11" and 330+ (he's not exactly sure how much), most days he does quite a bit of walking, loading/unloading and setting up traffic control cones, barricades, etc.

  • I've seen a lot of threads these days asking how many calories a particular person should eat. It's not a bad question, but I wonder if we approach it the wrong way.

    What I would suggest is that he eats the same he always has this week, but records every single bite. You can enter it into FitDay or Daily Plate or whatever for him. Once you know what he is eating now, you guys can play with numbers and nutrients. Rule of thumb is a calorie deficit of 500 a day will result in 1 lb per week.

    But if you know where you are, you know where to go.
  • I found that TDP's calorie suggestions have been pretty spot on for me.
  • Thanks, I'll try and get him to use FitDay or TDP, he wants to loose weight but won't sit down and sign up for these places
