Pant sizes - is it just my menopot?

  • Ok, I do read all those threads about what pants sizes people are, and how cool it is to drop pant sizes, yada, yada. But I always get discouraged because I must have the biggest gut on the North American continent.

I'm 5'7", so my height is pretty average. And I'm no kid, and didn't exercise for many years. But I am trying to get rid of my apple.

I have dropped over 50 lbs - at the top, at 280, I was refusing to buy 28s, although I do own several pairs of 26/28s, and not all of them fit that well. It took me into the 250s to get into 24s comfortably. I acquired a pair of 22 Venetia stretch jeans that DD had dieted out of, and they started fitting in the high 230s. Now, I can take them off without unzipping - which is my sign that new pants are in my future (although I do have a nice pair of black wool pants that I'll have taken in around the waist, since I am afraid they are heading for falling off).

Does anyone else have a tummy like mine?
  • I'm also apple. Since 280 lbs I've been a size 20 in pants... I can get into 18's but it makes my giant muffin top explode. Everyone's body is different. I also hold most of my weight in my stomach

EDIT: I forgot to add, at my heighest weight of almost 350 lbs, I was a size 24.
  • I'm 280 pounds and stuck at a size 26/28. I'm about 5'5" and I wear my fat on my lower body mostly. My hips and tummy are huge lol.
  • Yeah see, I have no hips whatsoever. I don't even own love handles. Haha.
  • I'm curvy lol...big gazoongas, big hips, big legs, big butt...small waist.
  • Sue -- I always felt like I was bigger for my size than others. At my high weight (295) I was in size 30... or more.
  • I am 340 and I have some 24's, some 26's and a couple 28's...gotta love the sizing. I dunno how I can range 3 sizes. I do know that at 300 I am 22/24, 250 a 20, 200 an 18...seems like quite a spread to me.
  • bet you mine is bigger than yours!

Everybody usually assumes I am a beer drinker and it is a beer gut but it is not and I don't drink beer, it was ALL food that did that!

Hopefully soon it will all be a thing (or gut) of the past!
  • I always had to by trousers in a bigger size as I carry my weight on my hips and butt big time. In comparision my waist is small. At my biggest weight I was 300lbs in a size 26 uk clothing. I am now 176lbs and I am in size 14 or 16 trousers depending on the make. Inevitably I have to take the waist in to stop my trousers going south and showing all my knickers
