Skinny Fingers = Loose Ring?

  • When I got married, I was about 176 pounds, give or take. I'm now 15 pounds lighter and aiming for 15 more. I swear my wedding ring is starting to spin on me more. Am I imagining this? Have any of you had to resize your ring(s) as you've lost weight?
  • Hi Less,

    Funny you should mention it. My wedding ring flew off my finger at work on Tuesday and I kept it off (and safe at home) the rest of the week. I put it back on last night but I am so paranoid that it is going to fall off again. I need to get it resized but I am not sure when to do it, since I don't know if losing 10 more pounds would make another big difference for my fingers.

    But yes, my fingers are way skinnier now than they used to be.
  • can you buy one of those cheap ring sizers to go in it until you hit your actual goal and see what size you need. I know you can get clear sizers at walmart and jewerly stores.
    congrats on the weight loss!!
  • I am currently wearing mine on a (really strong) necklace. When I get to a weight I like and maintain it for a few months (just to make sure it is a sustainable weight) I'll get my ring resized. Right now it just slides right off!
  • I had that happen on a previous diet when I lost 40 pounds... my panties got too big too and would bunch up under my clothes!! LOL

    Congrats on the losses!!!
  • About 4 months ago I broke down and had my wedding ring resized. I went from a size 7 to a 5. It is starting to spin around on my finger again.
  • When I lost a lot of weight a few years ago, my ring size went down over 2 sizes!
  • I have the same problem. I want to get my ring sized down, but I still want to lose 17 pounds or so, so didn't want to have to size down twice. I had never heard of ring sizers, dgramie, thank you for the idea! I also have a few costume pieces I seldom wear, and wouldn't want to spend much money to get sized, so if I can find them, I'll use sizers for them! I'll go check ebay right now, and let you know if they have any!

    Okay, they have them! They're called Ring Snuggies and they are about $3 for a pack of 6 assorted sizes! Groovy!
  • I have this problem right now. DH has a friend who is a jeweler. He told me to wait until up to 2 months after reaching goal weight before I get them sized down.
  • That happened to me a few months ago. That was before I started messing up on my plan before my big trip to Louisiana last month. {{{{Arrrggghhh!!}}}}

    I didn't get it re-sized but now it's starting to get snug again. Hopefully it will fit comfortably again. And soon!
