The Biggest Loser airs tonight

  • Last night, I saw a trailer for a new (?) Biggest Loser that will air tonight at 10 pm Eastern on Slice. I put a question mark after 'new' because it may be a series from the past that they are rerunning - I don't know. I only jumped on the Biggest Loser wagon this winter (TBL - Couples) so I am not familiar with any other ones (with the exception of TBL Australia).
  • I bet it is not for the new series, because they haven't completed casting (unless it's specifically a "casting" special). They are having a casting call here in Denver on the 12th, in which I'm up to be on the production team (woo hoo!).
  • I saw the commercial the other day and I think it's the original one, which might be interesting. I don't think I ever watched it then.
  • Well I took a minute and looked at Slice's website (slice.ca). Caroline Rhea hosting (so season 1 - 3). Episode 2 has the following information:

"In this episode, the red and blue teams face the ultimate bake-off challenge when the group who sells the most of their own baked goods at Universal City Walk gets to be pampered at a luxurious spa."

Looked at a web guide for confirmation - definitely season 1. So for those in Canada you can see season 1 from the start. The times below are the only ones listed (episode 1), but I suspect the 2nd episode will be at the same times a week later. Typical of a specialty channel it's on many many times.

  • Oh, and for Canadians who have always wanted to open their weight loss journey to the world... I noticed that Slice is having an open casting call for their series X-weighted. Season 4 will be families. The show is filmed over a 4 month period, aired in a one hour format.

Vancouver, Edmonton and Calgary only (it's western Canada based)

And if you're in Vancouver and need to lose those last 10 pounds....

Last 10 pounds bootcamp. A much better deal - they provide you with a trainer and dietician for 4 weeks. If it's the same guy I've seen he's an ex football player in wicked shape.

Whoa! That's exciting - will you be able to provide us with all sorts of updates we would not normally get on television? Will you be on the production team of the entire program, or just for the casting?

    Hi Anne,
Thank you for going the extra mile and looking up all the additonal information. I watched last night and I still had no idea this was the original BL (i.e. season 1) until I read your post this morning. I did not like it as much as I liked Couples - there seemed to be something missing, but I guess the program improved with new seasons. I was not thrilled with the host - I don't know her but I did not like her.

I was surprised that they picked someone like Dana who weighed only 175 lbs. I know they calculate the percentage of weight loss, not only the number of pounds, but still, what chance would she have against somebody who weighed over 300 or even 400 lbs? She did not seem to be petite as, for example, Ali Vincent.

But anyway, I will be happy to watch all upcoming episodes - I am totally addicted to the show!

No, I just watch it from time to time.

I noticed the casting call when I was there. It's funny, but the two or three Canadian based shows are mainly based in the western part of the country. The third one is called Taking it Off and I think they might have done an east vs. west theme one season. I'm not enough of an exhibitionist to participate in this type of show though.
  • Jillian said on her radio show that she's working on TBL 2008. It already started and she's working with her contestants. I think the casting call is for 2009.
  • I think a new BIggest Loser Couples starts on air th Sept
