Not working Graveyard...

  • Hey Everyone
So I recently got a job that has me on-call for day shift (10a-8p) or Night Shift (8p-6a). I've been working Night Shift, primarily, and my weight has sky-rocketed.

(though Evan, the boyfriend, and I have a sneaking suspicion that changing our scale's batteries might have done something, too, since we sky-rocketed the same amount..)

So I work at a Casino, which means I get Casino Food for 1 meal every time I go in, but I've been good (well, as good as I can be!)! Getting the Turkey Wrap with minimal "stuff" (ie ranch, cheese, etc) and broccoli instead of fries. I also take sugar-snap peas, carrots, and grapes with me to snack on!

My main issue has been that I am having a hard time logging my foods--both because I don't really know when my "day" begins or ends: Do I track during the hours that dailyplate sets for me? (normal-people-hours) Or is my day the hours in which I'm awake?...
    What would you do??!??!?!?!?!

I definitely am having a better time not having worked there since Thursday (and I won't have to work until Sunday the 18th), since I'm able to eat most of my food between noon and midnight (prime tracking hours)!

But this is my little experiment to see if not working nights at the casino gives me a better time of trying to lose weight!

    Thoughts?
  • I have been working graveyards for the past year. I track my calorie intake per 24 hours, from 7 am to 7 am the next day. This way I am tracking the same amount of time on the nights I work and the days I have off. It seems to be working great. Good luck.
  • My sleeping schedule can often times be completely flipped upside down, and I just track my foods from my crazy hours in place of the "normal-people" hours. It has always worked extremely well and I've lost most of my weight doing this.
  • I start overnights on wednesday... I'm hoping they go well for me. I'm a little nervous. They order food out a lot... I'm just going to have to bring healthy stuff and keep my locker full of healthy goodies. :-S
  • I'm a nurse and I work 12 hour night shifts. I start my calorie counting day when I wake up about 2pm. I try not to eat anything after 2 am in the morning. Sounds a little odd but it works for me.
