c25k HELP!

  • c25k HELP! I can't run, I have an Ipod, I know how to get to the Ipod store, then what? Are these actually called c25k or couch to 5 k, what should I be searching for? What is it music or talking - I never did pod casts before. LOL.
    ??????????
  • Here are the iTunes version
I have a generic mp3 player and ended up having to use these ones.

He has pretty corny music in my opinion. He explains a little in the beginning about the program and then he gives the voice prompts when you are supposed to speed up and slow down. I find them really helpful when running outside so I don't have to keep looking at my watch. Hope that helps.
  • Vixjean, I just started the C25K yesterday, and used the podcast for it. I LOVED it! For one thing, not looking at my watch or the timer on the treadmill is a big plus for me, as it will help keep me from cheating. I actually don't mind the music. It's not what I would load on my iPod myself, but it helps me keep up my pace, and I don't focus on the music like I sometimes do if it's my own tune list. But I also actually like his instruction/encouragement. It's almost like having a trainer work out with you, giving you motivation!

(Granted, this is after one session. We'll see how I feel about it on week 6! LOL!)

    Good luck with it!
  • If you don't like the music, you can do what I did-- I just search through my own iTunes music and find songs of appropriate lengths (give or take up to five seconds) and then when the song changes I start or stop running as necessary.

It helps that I have a really big music library, though. Worth checking, though! I just make a new playlist each week.
  • COOL PEPS, thank you all so much, something I really want to check out soon. You gals rock!
  • Thanks again ladies, I did the first round 60 minutes of jogging and 90 walking, no downloads yet, just used my watch... Is there a thread or forum where they talk about C25K? I would like to see how others are doing too?
    Thanks again.
  • Check out the Cool Runners thread. You can talk about the C2K5 there!

I start week two on Monday - I've tried C25K a few weeks back, hurt myself, and I'm starting over back at the beginning. I personally hate the podcasts, and much prefer my own music and the treadmill. But come Monday I won't have treadmill access, and I'll be depending soley on his podcasts.

    Welcome to the program!!
  • Eskinomad - did day one week one, I am hurting BAD, hopefully just muscle soreness and not an injury... I should know in the next day or so.
  • Awwww. Poor thing. Be sure not to try running too FAST on week one. That's what I did. I was also in poor shoes - so I hurt my feet sooo bad, and my knees did me in, too. If your joints get sore I really recommend cod liver oil tablets, and if your muscles are cramping be sure to have banana for the potassium, and I've heard chocolate milk is very good for the muscles too. Low-sugar syrup and skim milk might not be so bad for the diet - just give it a think.

Good luck on day two and day three!! Let me know how it's going! Love the updates.
  • I used Robert Ullrey's podcasts and totally loved them! I graduated the C25K program this month. I can jog 5K!! Not in 30 minutes, but I can do it! I never, ever thought I could do that.
  • Way to go Fibrelover! I can't wait to be there!
  • fiberlover- Congrats that is so awesome, hope to be you soon!
