  • Tonight, I finally got to use the mp3 player that I got for working on a special project at work. I loaded it up with my entire Blue October collection, since it's rare I can listen to them at home-Hubby gets rather tired of them quickly(No one ever accused him of having good taste in music).

Well Blue October was totally my motor tonight, and I pushed myself for extra time and an extra long lap so that I could listen to all the songs I had been missing.

So what do YOU have on your MP3 player that gets you revved up?
  • Bif Naked, Kings of Leon, Green Day, Gnarls Barkley, The Killers -- those are some of my current favorites.

Though -- and it is totally embarrassing to admit this -- the best song for running I have found so far is "Girlfriend". Yeah, the Avril Lavigne song. What? It's got a great beat.
  • Gnarles Barkely (crazy), Seal (crazy), Chaka Kahn (ain't nobody), Golden Earring (Twilight Zone), Fergie (Fergilicious), Tears for Fears (Pale Shelter), Justin Timberlake (SexyBack), Linken Park (Numb), Snap (The Power), Nelly Furtado (Permiscous), etc.....
  • I listen to a lot of trance/house music while I"m working out. I find that the songs are long enough and that the beat is consistent enough ... plus I don't get distracted by the words to songs I know (or don't find myself singing out loud, to the annoyance of hte people around me).

A friend of mine gave me the whole Seb Fontaine Prototype collection (4 discs) and that's been my standby for the last couple of weeks.

The rest of it is stuff that I might not otherwise admit to listening to!

    .
  • Bowie, Run DMC, Blondie, New Order, My Morning Jacket, Against Me!, Outkast, I love to dance to Buena Vista Social Club, Smith. Really, though, when i am walking, I listen to This American Life, Talk of the Nation, or Fresh Air.
  • Chris brown for sure! like "forever" I like really emotional songs because I feel really motivated, some all american rejects, always fun!

  • i have the Nike + Drive mixes on there. they are on average about 40-45 minutes each and were designed for runners in mind. they start of slow and then increase and the cool down again based on a techno-like beat. i find when i am running and listening to music i like to hit a rhythm and if my music beat is changing i'm always stumbling to keep in step with the beat. this way, i just run to the music!
  • Sadly I still live in the land of CDs and just started running on an elliptical daily...an iPod would make it so much easier to mix it up!
  • I've been too lazy to create a playlist for my Zune, but I'm going to have to get on the ball, listening to music while working out helps me zone. It's great. When I create a playlist I'll post it. I definitely see some good stuff to put in my playlist from this thread.
