  • How is your mom doing? I've been thinking of y'all.
  • Me, too! Can we have an update?
  • AWWWW! Thank you so much for thinking about us I Love you guys so much :

We had the appt. with the internist who did the biopsy yesterday. He told us that although the biopsy and bone scan were negative (yay!) that he is still pretty sure it is cancer. He explained a bit about the ways lung cancer differs from cryptococcus when looking at a CT scan.

He also explained that when he was doing her biopsy on April 1st, he managed to get 4 samples from surrounding tissues...but then she started to bleed quite a bit, and her blood oxygen got a little low, so he had to stop.

He said that he felt that the tumor might be just on the other side of the bronchial tube he was in, because the area he was sampling from looked like there was something else underneath, changing it's shape.

SO - the next step, is for her to have another biopsy, this time a Wang Needle biopsy. He will go to that same area, and then use the needle to punch through that tube and get a sample of what he believes is the tumor.
Hopefully, then we will have a proper diagnosis/staging. And then finally we'll know what kind etc.. and can see an Onc. and learn about treatment options.
The next biopsy will be this coming Tuesday (29th)

Man, all this waiting can be so frustrating. I just keep worrying that all this time waiting..it's in there...growing

I'm trying VERY hard to limit that kind of thinking as MUCH as possible. I really am focusing on all the positive most of the time. We're having lots of fun together, and enjoying every bit of family time we get!

I was thinking just the other day. You know how Moms can be SO annoying and frustrating, right? It was absolutely amazing how the day we got that CT report, almost ALL of those little annoyances have miraculously disappeared! Of course, I'm very well aware that it's my perception that's changed...she still does all the stuff that bugged me before, it just doesn't bug me anymore

Sometimes I really wish I could go back to being annoyed.

It means SO very much to me, that you are thinking of us. It really makes me stronger.

    Linda
  • Still keeping you in my thoughts.
  • Linda, thanks for updating us. I had been wondering as well.
  • Thanks for the update! I can't wait for you to have some answers. The waiting game sucks big time! I will keep you guys in my thoughts! You are being so strong through this, and it's totally what your mom needs. Oh.. by the way, I see those annoying things coming back in your future.. be careful what you wish for :-P
  • fawn! Damn...I SURE hope so!!!!

  • Oh Linda... it will I am sure! My mom gave us a scare last year.. here she had been having chest pains for MONTHS! and never told anyone, she finally went to the dr, without telling any of us, and the next day she was having angioplasty (sp?). She had some majorly clogged arteries... grrrr the things our parents put us through, and they have the nerve to tell us we are "pains in the butts". She has since regained her annoying-ness.

  • too funny! I'm so glad that your Momma is back to annoying you!
  • I am keeping my fingers crossed as well.
  • Thanks for the update Linda! Waiting definitely sucks but at least you don't have to wait as long as last time.

    Sending happy thoughts!
  • Thanks for the update Linda!
I'll keep you in my toughts!
