  • As a wife of 14 years and a Mom to to beautiful DDs, I can honestly say that I sometimes find myself becoming "mommy" and "wife" only and forgetting my very own hopes and dreams. Sometimes, I'll find myself going along with the flow just so I don't cause waves and make everyone uncomfortable, only to find that I'm uncomfortable and very unhappy myself. I'll think "where did that independent go-getter disappear to?" It was during a time such as this when I began my weight loss journey. I realized that I had forgotten to make myself a priority.

These times of introspection and life evaluation are not necessarily a bad thing. These times can help us to continue evolving and experiencing life to the fullest. I've recently decided to learn to belly dance. Tomorrow, I begin the C25K program so that I can run in a marathon one day. I've signed up to participate on a Relay for Life team that raises money to support cancer research. And, I'm planning on taking sewing classes in the summer. One day, I'd like to learn how to play the guitar.

Have you ever read the book, No Opportunity Wasted by Phil Keoghan, host of the Amazing Race? He encourages readers to step out of their comfort zone and enjoy life. I think this is great advice for all of us....and when we step out of our comfort zone, we do get the opportunity to learn who we are.
