Diet Blog question - organizing posts

  • Hi all!

    I'm a newbie just wondering if someone can educate me to understand the of organizing my posts on my diet blog. I'm a smart girl (I swear) but I think I'm lost between posts, pages, and categories! Here are my questions:

    1. Will everything I post and save/publish show up on my 1st page?
    2. If I want to only put exercise tracking on my "exercise" page, do I simply only edit that specific page as opposed to "post" something new?
    3. If so (to ? #2), am I better off to use categories than pages to sort and view all of my info on one subject?

    I think I've probably burned a few calories in the forum trying to sort this out on my own Any help would be much appreciated!

    Everything you post will appear on the first page by default. That's the nature of a blog. The only option would be to create a 'static' front page which would appear, which might be about you or make some kind of statement, etc. But then none of your new posts will appear on your first page including the category you wanted to appear. All blog posts would have to be accessed via the category links.

    If you want to do this, go to your admin area and when you write a post, choose to write a "page" instead of a post. Then go to Options ... Reading ... and select your static page as your home page.
