build your own healthy bar

  • I thought this link was awesome:

Bars were a little pricey (3.33 each) but you get to put EXACTLY what you want in it and there is a lot of room for customization. I'm considering a cashew/dried cherry bar
  • That is so cool!! Is there a way to get the nutrition info from a custom made bar? I like to have snack bars to take with me to work for a nice afternoon snack before I work out. Some of them have sooo much sugar and are so sweet that they trigger my sugar cravings...

This would be a great Christmas present for me to buy for myself.
  • Glory, that is AMAZING. What a cool concept.

tofulover, there was a place to click for the calories and nutrition info on the right side, scroll down a bit - it was there.
  • I ordered a box for my DH so I hope they turn out.
  • that is such a great idea.. I wish it wasn't so expensive though.. making your own bar would probably be a lot cheaper. I would love to find a recipe for a build your own bar like that.
  • Thanks for the link! What a great concept!
  • Glory - thanks again for this info! I just got my box of bars. They are so good! They are rather small but I don't mind that. If your goal is to get the most food for the least money, this is not for you. But if you want quality rather than quantity, this is it. My bars contain organic dates, cashew macadamia butter, prunes, dried apples, whey protein, organic molasses, cashews, water, oat bran, "Fiber In-fu-sion", and organic cinnamon. I specified "not too sweet." It's perfect!

I started making my own bars last weekend following the recipe from this site http://www.recipezaar.com/32031 . You can modify it to your liking, I reduce the sugar as the bars have so much flavor it doesn’t need that much sugar. It takes about 20 minutes to put together and it makes a lot of bars.
