What Are You Eating Today? - Week of 9/24 - 30

  • Yesterday amended:
    S - peanut butter filled cheese crackers (the vending machine kind)
    D - hash brown casserole (cooking light), chik'n nuggets, salad w/light dressing

    Today so far/plan:
    B - oat bran, blueberries, milk
    S - nf chai w/vanilla, plum
    L - leftover broccoli mac & cheese
    S - kiwi, grapes
    D - leftover hash brown casserole or maybe pasta? I have a pasta recipe for this week I haven't made yet...

    I don't know how the ladies on low-carb diets do it. I eat pasta for dinner at LEAST three times a week and for lunch at least three times a week. What would I do without pasta?? It is my go-to food for when I don't have time to make dinner, and half the time when I do make dinner it's a pasta recipe anyway (witness this week's mac & cheese, cherry tomato spaghetti, and beef stew with egg noodles...).

    I'm with you on that one. In fact today I'm having pasta twice. Such a good day. Now if I could somehow also eat about 3 bananas and some peanuts from the shell it would be heaven.

    Ah, 9/27, the plan (breakfast is real):

    B: optimum power cereal w/ blueberries & soymilk, coffee w/ milk, banana
    S: peach, yogurt
    L: penne rustica w/ bread and salad (meeting food at work)
    S: I'd like to say carrots, but probably a cookie (meeting food). I'm going to try to keep it to one.
    D: leftover spaghetti w/ marinara and meatless crumbles
    S: hmm, peanuts from the shell?? portion controlled of course

  • I didn't have to give my roomie any $ b/c I didn't touch that cheesecake again.

    I don't each as much pasta, perhaps a few times a month. But I certainly couldn't do low carb either! I like my fruit, whole wheat bread sandwiches, cereal/oatmeal for breakfast waaaay too much.

    Anne, if I don't get my banana at breakfast/AM snack my day is just incomplete. It is my favorite morning fruit. Berries are the only thing that come close. 3 bananas a day would be much better than 3 cookies a day!

    I'm going to go back a few days so this will be a long one. I've mostly gotten back OP this week, minus Wednesday night. I am patting myself on the back for turning down ice cream/root beer floats, pepperidge farm chocolate chunk cookies, sour patch kids, and wine yesterday and staying OP all day. I'm trying to just take it one day at a time.

    Friday 9/28 (on plan so far)
    B - Kashi GoLean Crunch cereal, skim milk, coffee w/ 1 T h&h (eaten)
    S - banana
    gym?
    L - boiled shrimp, large salad w/ 2 T Ken's lite Olive Oil and Red Wine Vinegar dressing
    2 snacks (long afternoon ahead) - ff yogurt, walnuts, apple
    or gym here?
    D - ?

    Thurs 9/27 (on plan)
    B - Kashi GoLean Crunch cereal, skim milk, coffee w/ 1 T h&h
    S - banana
    L - whole wheat bread, Sweet 'n Spicy tuna, carrots & celery, walnuts
    S - yogurt, apple
    gym - weights, abs, running/walking
    D - homemade pita pizza - oat bran pita, part skim mozzarella, turkey pepperoni; (frozen) pea pods
    D - 2 kiwis, sf jello

    Wed 9/26 (went downhill at dinner)
    B - light multigrain english muffin, 2 T lf cream cheese, 1 T sf jam, 1 c. skim milk, coffee w/ 1 T h&h
    S- banana
    L - whole wheat bread, Sweet 'n Spicy tuna, carrots & celery
    S - ff yogurt, apple, almonds
    skipped the gym after a stressful day collecting samples on the boat in rough weather, braved many jellyfish stings and poking fish (this isn't a valid excuse, but it's the one I used Wednesday)
    S (b/c I was STARVING) - homemade pumpkin protein bar, 1/4 c. Kashi GoLean Crunch cereal, 1/2 serving animal crackers (8 crackers), 1 serving sf jello
    D - friends came over, and someone brought potatoes in addition to steak & salad that I thought I could handle - 6 oz. NY strip steak, lean only eaten, salad, 1 T Ginger dressing, 12 oz. bottle of beer, ~1 1/2 c mashed potatoes w/ Move Over butter (no cream/milk/extra butter added)
    mindless munching later even though I was NOT hungry - Nutri Grain Fruit & Nut Bar, skim milk, handful peanut-butter-filled pretzels

    Tues 9/25 (actually stayed at 1521 cal, despite AM snaffoo w/ the cheescake)
    B - light multigrain english muffin, 2 T lf cream cheese, 1 T sf jam, 1 c. skim milk, coffee w/ 1 T h&h, 1/2 piece of the mocha cheesecake mentioned yesterday
    S- small banana
    L - 2 slices whole wheat bread, homemade egg salad - 2 eggs, 1/2 T light mayo, 1 t mustard, celery; carrots, cucumber slices, celery
    S - ff yogurt, apple, walnuts
    gym - running, walking, abs, stairmaster
    D - 5 oz bs chicken breast in herb-grilled chicken marinade (marinade = only about 50 cal), 1 c (frozen) pea pods
  • Yesterday (Thursday) amended:
    D - 1.5 servings (3 bowls! Luckily serving size was big on this one) cherry tomato spaghetti (cooking light)
    S - a few tortilla chips (no salt added), raisins, bowl of raisin bran (Megan, I am a mindless muncher too!)

    Friday so far/plan:
    B - raisin bran w/skim milk
    S - handful of grapes
    L - leftover pasta from last night
    S - plum, kiwi, slice of ww bread
    D - either more leftover pasta or leftover hash brown casserole w/salad or green beans

    My eating hasn't been great but hasn't been terrible either. However, my exercise has been abysmal. With all the wedding prep and having to come home to water our lawn that just got reseeded we haven't had time for our usual gym trip. I'm spending my free time at home putting together favor boxes instead of working out!

    I am the opposite...although I am not really low carb, I am trying to up my carbs for the marathon and every time I try I end up in a binge. I just do better if I stay below 50% I'm not used to eating that way anymore. I eat pasta, its just a side dish for me not the main attraction.
