  • I just found this in my email, and thought it was so funny, I just had to share. http://www.dietfork.com/

Yes, the fork designed to be so inefficient and uncomfortable that it forces its user to eat more slowly!

Somehow, I don't think that this is going to do the trick. If someone wants to overeat, they are going to do so. They'll learn how to pile it in even with the amazing diet fork, or they will simply toss it and get a more standard version or perhaps just use their fingers.

But at least people who do so will be able to blame their wonderous new fork for not living up to its claims.
  • One thing I had heard is that you should try eating with chopsticks to eat more slowly. Of course if you are like me, I can eat fast eating with chopsticks so it doesn't do me any good
  • yea, the chopsticks thing totally works... until you become proficient at using chopsticks. But then at least you learned a new skill!
  • OK--I've been lurking for a long time--but I am finally forced to make a post:

Why don't you try using just one chopstick?
  • I could totally do that. Take a chopstick, stab it into a whole chicken, then pick it up and daintily nibble on the carcass...

Wait, that would defeat the purpose. And I'm too good with chopsticks for using two to work well with me.

I do eat my pudding cups with a butter knife instead of a spoon. It does slow me down. Some.
  • Well if you go the chopstick route, you could also try some metal chopsticks, they are a bit slippery. When I first bought some metal chopsticks, it was a bit more challenging than wood or even plastic.

One chopstick wouldn't work well with most stuff. I couldn't imagine eating rice with one chopstick
  • That is so funny. My goodness, imagine paying good money for that! I'm not very good with chopsticks, but I don't think I'm going to depend on that to lose weight either.
  • Nelie:

That's the point...think how SLOWLY you'd eat rice if you used only one chopstick?

I think we have a new diet tool here! Watch for my ads on QVC! I think there are a lot of people out there who would pay good money to lose weight using only one chopstick.
  • 9 dollars plus shipping for a package of sporks?

Oh what the foolish will buy.
  • Pizza, brownies, potato chips...

What we need to invent are dining gloves. They should be fuzzy and absorbent, and they should shed easily. You wouldn't want to eat anything that couldn't be picked up by a chopstick or funny fork!
  • Oh that cracks me up! If my fork is uncomfortable to hold I would probably just throw it away and grab a different one!
Seriously though one trick I have done for years when eating things like icecream, pudding, etc is use a baby spoon.
  • My dentist actually sells a retainer-like mouthpiece that limits the amount of food you can put in your mouth. Now, I ask you, why wouldn't you just take the retainer out of your mouth? Wacky!
  • Wow, that looks like the forks specially designed for my toddler! I should borrow some of hers, then I can lose weight! (Toddler forks are much cheaper than that too...).
  • Too funny! I read the fine print trying to find a disclaimer that says "For entertainment purposes only"...like you said, some people will buy anything!
  • I love the fact that it says "Making dieting FUN" and then the extremely pained look on the models face.
