  • ...I went to my Mom's house to babysit my little sister and I didn't give into my cravings!

I was even talking to Mom and I said, "I have been doing well resisting all the junk food in your house so far." Mom replies, "I don't have a lot of junk food in my house!" To which I kinda laugh and say, "Are you kidding? You have that tub of Movie Theatre popcorn there, there's some junior carmels, you have a cake on the kitchen counter, chips on the counter, then there's that cake in the fridge, and all the candy bars in the fridge, icecream in the freezer..." Mom says, "Yea.. I guess so." I told her I couldn't eat any of that and she says, "Yea you can. If it doesn't get eaten it'll just have to get thrown out."

I know she means well. Maybe she didn't know she has so much bad food around 24/7. ??? Either way, I am just glad to say that I stayed there for a couple days and managed not to even take a taste of all my old favorites!
  • Yea KAE!!!! That is a major accomplishment! You should be very proud of your victory!
  • Congratulations!! That must have been really hard, but you did it! Woo Hoo!
  • If her policy is that if you don't eat it, she'll have to throw it out...THROW IT OUT! You might have to do it in a couple of visits, but pick something the Old You would have eaten, and throw it out. Next visit, same thing. Have fun!
  • Sidhe, what a great idea! How freeing!

    Great job, Kae!
  • Yea! Great job. Each time you do that, it will get easier! Congratulations! Jelly
  • Thanks! I do feel good about it. Mind you.. I have to do it every week.. but now the prospect of it doesn't feel so daunting.

As for my Mom, she isn't only buying it for me. The cake was 75% gone.. I'm not sure how much of that was my mom or my little sister. It is hard because my mom has Lukemia and is on chemo and such.. her taste buds have changed because of it and Chocolate is one of the foods that still tastes good to her and doesn't make her as sick to eat it. I'm not going to throw it out-- it's her house and her treats.

But at least I know I have enough willpower to resist finishing them all off before they go bad. Maybe she'll buy less if I don't eat it and half of it goes to waste.. then again, maybe not.
  • What an amazing victory! And good for you for helping your mom realize what's in her house. Even if she doesn't do anything about it, it may come to her one day that she's setting your sister up for a potential weight problem. Congratulations on your success!
  • Congratulations, it is always tough, but you did it.
    Way to go!
  • Good for you! I know having all that temptation around really gets to me. My poor family has to suffer when I diet. Of course it's good for them to be thinking about wiser choices too, so I don't feel so bad

  • Good job, Kae! You're not a garbage disposal!
  • Great job, Kae! I know how nervous you were about that.
