Red face I'm New Here

Hi everyone, I am new to this site, but excited as it seems to be a very supportive network of people. I am currently 5'9 and around 245lbs and would like to lose weight. I am about to start law school in August, and I fear that the stress of school might lead to more weight gain. I have gained around 40 lbs over the last 5 years, and as I get older I want more now than ever to lose at least that much. I do not have much of a support network right now when it comes to weight loss, and I was hoping to find that here, as well as lots of advice. I know many of you can relate to the feeling I have that I will never lose this weight, but I don't want to feel that way anymore. I feel like I have accomplished a lot in my life already, so why can't I accomplish weightloss. Maybe that is too simple of a way to say it, but I think you know what I mean. As I have been reading some your posts and looking at some of your weight loss tickers, I am amazed at your results, and want to be there too. I have started working out a little, and am trying to change my eating habits. Hopefully this will be the beginning of a change for me. Any advice or support is welcome. Thanks.

I'm doing a Law degree at the moment, and I have to say, the stress does lead to weight gain if you don't watch your weight properly!
I didn't gain much over my first year, but I did gain a bit and I was overweight to begin with so I now need to lose a lot!
Good luck with everything!!!

So great to hear that someone else is in law school here. What did you do to help curb the weight gain, after yoru first year?

I did quite a bit of exercise, not jogging or anything, but I went for lots of walks-I ate loads because I am an emotional eater and I eat when I am stressed but I think that my going for regular walks and stuff helped ensure I didn't gain a lot!

I found that I ate LOADS more when my assignments were due in/when my exams were on, because the stress levels went through the roof, which didn't help my weight at all, but we've all just got to persevere and let ourselves have a treat when we have stressful deadlines!

In my second year, which starts in September, I am going to be eating much more healthily and doing much more vigorous exercise. I think if you eat healthier, you feel healthier and it might have a positive impact on my work.
