  • Good morning all!
3.2 miles last night with a VERY cranky toddler in the stroller. Fingers crossed that he's in a better mood tonight and the rain holds off.

Hope everyone has a great day!

BTW: lost another .5 lb - that brings my total to 6lbs in 10 days
  • 7.1

    91.2/100
  • 5.1? have to recheck

    96.3/100
  • Just under 2 - 104.4/125

However, I'm going to cheat and add Sunday's run before I do it. Short of getting injured there's no way I'm not finishing, even if I have to crawl over the line, so I'll put it down now as I'll be offline for a few days.

    130.6/125. Probably.
  • Walking
I tried to start a thread on here about this, but it wont let me, I do not know why so if someone can tell me why I would really appreciate it.

That being said, I would like to know if Walking really helps people lose weight (of course) along with a healthy eating style?

Has anyone actually lost weight by walking? I am trying to walk a little more everyday since it is summer time in New York City. I was working out at home, then I just got a little bored and distracted so I would rather walk. It makes me feel a lot better, and I get a chance to get some fresh air (while listening to my music).

    Thanks
  • Also I wanted to mention that I know that the May challenge is almost over, but I would really like to join the June challenge if that is okay with everyone. I think this is something that I really can stick to and it seems pretty doable. I am going to continue to walk for the remainder of the month anyway.

How does the challenge work. From reading the post, it seems like everyone is choosing a certain amount of miles they are going to walk for the month and try to aim at that goal? Am I right, wrong or is there more to it.

Does everyone log in their weight in the beginning and in the end or something along with the miles walked?

    Thanks

Yes and no. As you mentioned diet is important.

Walking can be good for weightloss, but to truly be effective it has to be done at a challenging pace. If you are just strolling along it isnt going to do that much for you. If your arms are pumping, your breathing is heavy and your heart is beating faster then it can do great things. Walking is like all other exercise - you get out what you put in

Join the challenge! You dont even need to wait until June if you want to set a goal for the rest of the week go for it.

Yup, just pick a target # of miles and report in when you can (some people report every time they run/walk, sometimes a few days pass by and several runs are reported)
  • Hi ennay. Thanks so much for responding.

I never walk slow or stroll around when I walk. I have always been a fast walker no matter what I am doing or where I am going. The music just pumps it up even more. I guess I get that fast walk from my mother because she is the same way. I can also feel it if my heart rate is going up too. Like it did yesterday.

I also need to weigh myself again to see my true weight as of now. (I have not weighed myself in a few weeks). And I need to get one of those tickerfactory trackers.

    Thursday 1.5 miles
    Friday 3 miles
    Saturday 3 miles

    Thanks everyone
  • 5.2

    Friday: 3.2 miles
    Saturday: 3.2 miles
Sunday: 40 minutes on treadmill / 30 minutes elliptical - total 3.7 miles

  • 4.2 yesterday

    119.7/100

Guess I have to raise the bar in June!
  • Congrats on passing your goal Ennay! Good job.

I'm not going to make mine this month, but at least I walked 20 more miles than in April Onward to June!
