The New Chick

  • Hello everyone,
I have just come to the comclusion that i have an incredible amount of weight to lose. I had lost almost 70 pounds and kept it off but i had surgery and went off Topamax and regained all of it back. I really really would like to have a baby and i know that my weight is playing a big factor in my failure.
About me: I am almost 27. I am from NJ. I am married with no kids. I have a cat. I am a social worker in a mental instituition ( I LOVE IT!!! but somedays i want to curl in a ball and hide ). I could really use some support and a good kick in the booty. I was doing so well with exercise last week but then i got the flu and today is the first day i am not begging for death. Anyway.. I hope i can join you.

    Erin
  • I feel you. I am new on here as well, After several medical issues I have come to the conclusion that I am getting really fat.

3 years ago I was diagnosed with PCOS and hypothyroidism I have weight related knee and back pain. I tire easily. I want to have a baby too but the PCOS and thyoid issues cause me to be infertile and the fertility drugs work best on people who are not overweight.

I used to work in a mental institution and I am married with no kids as well.
  • Well then welcome to both of you. You guys sure have a lot in common. You've both just stepped into a fabulous place full of advice, support and encouragement. Good luck ladies. Looking forward to getting to know you better.

Join in and keep posting - there is so much information and support here.

MikeyP - I can tell you that I started with nearly all of the problems you mentioned (no thyroid issues, but PCOS, knee pain from weight and non-weight related problems, and weight related back pain). I just wanted to send you an extra little bit of encouragement...you CAN do this, and once you do, you'll feel SO much better. Personally, my PCOS resolved, my knees rarely give me any problems anymore (and thats WITH the non-weight problems too...I have no cartilege in my knees because of a congenital condition...still, losing weight has helped SO much), and my back is sooo much happier. It can be rough to get started, but it is SO worth it!
