Menus - online?

  • Are there any sites that help with planning menus and/or recipes? I've been doing some surfing, but was wondering if you guys had found some good one.
  • I'm not sure exactly what you are looking for, but I have found spark people dot com to be great. And it is FREE! Lots and lots of helps on there. I personally think it is more comprehensive than FitDay; however, FitDay is very simple and that suites me fine too. Hope that helps!
  • A friend of mine suggested the following site, I haven't really had time to look through it alot, but you can enter your ingredient and it will bring up menus -- I had to pick through a little to find healthy ones, but it's a start.

  • I love both of those sites you mentioned. I use SP to calorie count. I love the whole look and feel of it, kind of like a community. And allrecipes has some very good ones. You just have to look at the ingredients to see if it will fit into your eating habits. But I've found some good ones for stir fry, baked fish, etc.
  • My fault, I didn't really explain myself well. I need help to develop my menus on the diet. I'm flying by the seat of my pants and need to come up with a variety of menus, not just recipes. I'd love it if I had a dietician come in and help me make menus, but I can't. I was just looking for a site that can give me examples or help in establishing the right amount to eat, what to eat, what not to eat, etc.
  • Sp will give you a review of your current weight, goal weight, how much you can excersize now, etc. Then it reccomend weekly diet plans, it also gives you a shopping list to print out. My only issue with them, was when my fitday account went down for the 3rd time, I couldn't get back into it for 3-4 days, I sued sp to help me, and it underestimated calories in alot of food. One day there was a 600 calorie deficent between my sp and my fitday. ONce my fitday was back up I entered those SP days into fitday so it would be all filled in, I was furious. But, for meal plans etc, they've got it.
  • Hmm, which foods had the problem? I find the foods to be accurate for what I enter. I think the foods listed come from calorie-count.com.
  • what I did was build a binder of miscelaneous recipes and a grocery list of must haves. At first it is a lot of planning but once you get a good 4 weeks of recording what you ate and when, it's easy to start going back and plugging in meals. My binder is like my weight loss bible! I had tabs for my daily calorie counting, a tab for recipes, a tab for grocery lists and a tab full of meal options that I could plug into any given day. There are TONS of recipes within this board itself, in the different forums that break down calories, fat, carbs etc. Good luck to you!
