What are your Work Out Tunes?

  • Updating my Valentine's Day Ipod! Wondering what everyone likes to work out to?

    Give me playlists people!
  • I like FAST songs that really keep me moving. Here is my current playlist (definitely a child of the 80s):

Pink - Get the Party Started
Grease - Better Shape Up (I always sing "I better shape up!")
Vickie Sue Robinson - Turn the Beat Around
Bonnie Tyler - Holding Out For A Hero (I am the hero!!)

Pretty Poison - Catch Me I'm Falling
Samantha Fox - Naughty Girls Need Love Too
Culture Club - I'll Tumble For Ya
Shakira - Hips Don't Lie (I just think of her gorgeous abs the entire song)
Tom Jones - Sex Bomb (Peppermint Jam remix, very fast!)
Bony M - Rasputin (relatively obscure 70s disco band, my parents had the 8 Track when I was a kid, so there is huge nostalgia factor. Definitely a good, fast workout song)
W-O-R-K - Bow Wow Wow in the USA
Miquel Brown - So Many Men
    Irene Cara - Fame
Expose - Point of No Return
Tag Team - Whoop, There It Is!

Expose - Come Go With Me
    2 In A Room - Wiggle It

I use an Ipod shuffle, one of my newest toys from my Valentine hubby! It doesn't have a screen, but it will play through the list shuffled or in order.
  • I have a couple of them. For quick, get-in-get-out cardio:

    30-minute Cardio Playlist (29:43)
Queen - I Want to Break Free
    Gorillaz - Feel Good, Inc.
    Green Day - American Idiot
Ben Folds - Rockin' the Suburbs
    Cake - Short Skirt/Long Jacket
The White Stripes - Seven Nation Army
Pixies - Where is My Mind
    Coldplay - Green Eyes

I've also got a longer playlist, for when I'm doing hour-long circuits, but I'm still tweaking it.

For my nightly stretching routine, I use songs that make me feel happy, nostalgic, and relaxed.

    Stretching (24:20)
    The Jackson 5 - ABC
Al Green - Let's Stay Together
    ABBA - Fernando
10,000 Maniacs - More Than This
Barry Manilow - I Write the Songs
Ben E. King - Stand By Me
    Billy Joel - Uptown Girl

I found a lot of great workout music suggestions at the websites for the various fitness mags (Shape, Fitness, Self) and by googling "workout playlist."
