Burning Calories...a question

  • Hi Everyone!

I have recently started to use FitDay, and I have a question about calories burned. When people speak of "calories in/calories out" are they talking about TOTAL CALORIES BURNED per day (Basal, Lifestyle and Activities) as the "calories out" OR are they speaking of the calories burned through exercise (Activities) alone?

    Thanks!

    Cheryl
  • Total calories burned per day (basal + exercise).

So, if you eat 1500 calories, and burn 2000 calories, you are at a 500 calorie deficit. In order to lose 1 pound you have to lose 3500 calories, so in theory if you do the same every day, you should lose 1 pound after 7 days (500 x 7 = 3500).

Please note that this is not always exact due to water weight fluctuations.
  • Thanks, Alinnell!

    I've got it now!

  • What do you have your lifestyle level set at? Mine is currently at seated work, some movement.
  • Hi Kamily!

I have mine set at standing work (housework).
