Brazilian Jujitsu- anyone tried it??

  • I ask because the gym just isn't cutting it for me- i have always enjoyed the thought of learning a martial art but honestly am a tad afraid. although the plac ei wnat ot go has a great reputation and I know that they take safety precaustions-- maybe i should just go for it...for those that have done it or do do it-thoughts??? It would be 2x a wk for an hour - then i would do my other 3-4 hours in some new classes at the gym
  • sorry---the name just makes me think ...jujitsu in a thong?
  • Haven't tried it but I'd say go for it. I'm thinking about taking up a martial art myself.
  • Krista on stumptuous.com does BJJ - It's pretty kewl and physical and rolling around close contact wrapping your legs around people's heads Personally I don't really like grappling *gulp* but I have to do it for my next belt test so I'd say suck it up!

It depends what kind of movement/technique you want to learn. Karate/kickboxing are more aerobic in that you probably burn more energy and promote more strength in your core and legs since you have to stay upright and kick and be balanced, whereas I think Ju Jitsu is a bit of an easy option since you get to lie down!

Go for a trial lesson and see what it's like!
