    30 ounces (three 16 ounce cans) great northern beans -- rinsed and drained
    1/2 cup chopped onion
    4 1/2 ounces (1 scant cup) finely diced Dubuque 97%
    fat-free ham -- or any extra-lean ham
    1/2 cup chunky salsa -- (mild, medium, or hot)
    1 3/4 cups (one 15 oz can) Hunt's tomato sauce
    2 tablespoons Sugar Twin or Sprinkle Sweet
    2 tablespoons Brown Sugar Twin
    1/4 teaspoon black pepper

    "Crock-Pots were born to make scrumptious bean dishes, and I enjoy coming up with sparkling new ways to prepare this old but popular standby. Just think of it--for hours and hours, your beans will be mingling with tangy ham and spicy salsa. Mmm-hmm!"

    1. In a slow cooker, combine great northern beans, onion, and ham. Add salsa, tomato sauce, sugar substitute, Brown Sugar Twin, and black pepper. Mix well to combine. Cover and cook on LOW for 8 hours. Mix well before serving. Serves 6 (1 full cup).
