New and Fatter than Ever

  • Hi everyone,

I posted yesterday in the Fat Smash forum yesterday. I've tried so many diets that I've lost count. I'm at my all-time highest weight of 400 lbs and I feel so awful. I'm not ashamed of my weight or my looks, I'm just tired of dragging all this weight around. I have type 2 diabetes, a bad knee, and no energy at all. I was thin and pretty in high school, many moons ago (I'm 42). My boyfriend of 8 months has also gained about 30 lbs. since we got together and he's been encouraging me to put us on a diet, so we're going to try the Fat Smash because it seems do-able for us. Any help, encouragement, good recipes, etc. would be appreciated and I'll reciprocate. I've never been part of a group like this (except Weight Watchers) and I'm hoping folks will help motivate me to stay on the program. I really do want to live to see my 50th birthday, but at this weight and the rate I'm going, that's not too likely. I don't know what my block for losing weight is; I quit smoking cold turkey in September on my birthday, AND I work for a major U.S. tobacco company (which allows you to smoke anywhere in the building, even at your desk), so I thought, if I can do that, I can do this. Thanks for reading - happy holidays to you and yours!

  • Tina - Welcome to 3FC! Along with the Fat Smash section for specific help with that plan, you might want to check out the 300+ section. One of the things I love about this site was finding a place with a group of people who are also working on losing a significant amount of weight.

Congratulations on quitting smoking, especially under such difficult circumstances! I quit about 6 years ago and it was tough, and I was able to avoid smokers. You are definitely right - you can do this too!
  • Hey Jazzytina,

Welcome! Today is my first day as an actual registered member too. Congrats on your decision to get healthy. You can do it! I'm hoping that 3FC will provide me with the extra support I need to stay motivated... YOU CAN DO IT!
  • Wow, girl! Kudos on your quitting smoking. If you can do THAT, you can do ANYTHING!

I haven't quit and stayed quit yet so I may be picking your brain when I feel the heebie jeebies coming at me.
