too young for all the health issues

  • Hi all,

Just wanted to introduce myself. I picked up some information & recipe books on WW a few years ago, but quickly lost interest. 5 years later I'm bigger than ever (Doc's scale said 210, mine at home says 195- I'm sticking with the 195.)

Anyway I've been lurking on these forums for a while and decided to jump start my new found healthy life with active participation on a forum.

I'm a soon to be 5 year survivor of Ovarian & Endometrial cancer, dx'd at age 26. I'm now post surgery, radiation, & chemo. Being followed by my PCP, Gastro Doc, and Oncologist. I just had a physical and found out that my cholesterol is 248, LDL is 163, HDL 38. My blood sugar was borderline. I also suffer from GERD, and some IBS related issues. I also have Osteopenia from the hysterectomy I had for cancer, and now am in surgical menopause. I'm also battling depression, but am not on any meds for that. I am on meds for all of my other health issues.

Two big things I realized............one I'm only 31 and too young for all of these health issues. Two...... I'm tired of being unhealthy and want to take control as best as I can.

I'm a semi-vegetarian, I do eat fish. Because of my lactose intolerance I do limit my dairy to the occasional piece of cheese, and my weakness, a monthly Starbucks frap.

My first goals for myself are to try to exercise, at least 4 times per week AND to get to a dietician as soon as possible. With all of my health issues, I want to make sure I'm laying out the best possible food/exercise plan.

I guess I've rambled on long enough. Hi everyone!!
