Hi HEATHER
I'm Linda and, as the saying goes . . . Been there; Done that . . . I was diagnosed a good 15 years ago and, at the beginning did fairly well controlling things with just Glyburide and better eating habits, but then I seemed to fall off the deep end for a period of a few years . . . ignored my disease and did all the wrong things. Five years ago, I finally got back to testing my BS at least and discovered I was in terrible shape and had to add a lot of new drugs and regular Insulin injections just to get back on track and my already overweight situation turned into major obesity. Anyway, to shorten the story, I've finally got myself on a better path and have been losing weight and controlling my sugar levels much better since the beginning of this year. I still have a long way to go, but the weight is slowly coming down and the need for so much medication is slowly dropping, too. It can be done, but it does take work.
Hope you will become a regular and post on our monthly "Dieting with Diabetes" thread. We will all be looking forward to seeing a lot less of you a lot more often.
Keep on moving and shaking, girl. With a little help from our friends, we can all move on down that road to better health.
