Looking for support and friends

  • HI there! It's nice to "meet" all of you. I joined this site after doing a search for "weight loss community". I am looking for friends, and support as I start to change my life for the better. It has been a high stress year and I a have struggled with things so much. I am sad to admit that the weight I lost (54 lbs!) two years ago has come back on in the last 5 months. I am over it, over it over it, and want to be a better me, so here I am.....
  • Hi and welcome. You will find support here. You will find friends here. And we want to help you find a new slimmer, healthier you!

How'd you lose that 54 lbs?
  • Hello,
Welcome to 3FC. Like Susan said, you'll find friends and support here. You've gone the first step - you're ready to change your life. I wish you the best as you begin your journey.
  • Thanks for the welcome. The first time I lost weight I did my version of atkins.... I cut out most sugar, and most carbs, but not all. I am not good with super restrictive diets, so I made my own. For mornings I would have an omelet or breakfast burritos in whole wheat wraps, for lunch I had the same thing every day (which could be boring but I really liked it, lol) I had a taco salad with either chicken, beef, or even steak - whatever we had. It was the salsa that was the kick . High favor helped me a lot. I rarely used any cips in it, but occasionaly I did
For dinner I ate things like chef salad, baked chicken cooked in some italian breadcrumbs (again - flavor), roasted chicken and carrots, etc

For me, it was about limiting my sugary drinks - I went from drinking like a pitcher a day or sweet tea, plus soda, to splenda tea and diet soda. I also started eating more popcorn and nuts and less ice cream and cookies. Popcorn isnt good for you, I know, unless you eat it plain, which I cant do, but it was a huge improvement over ice cream, and the fact that it felt like cheating made it easier for me to not sugar cheat.
  • Sounds like you've got a good plan to get started. If you haven't found it yet, there is a low-carb forum. You'll find lots of good advise and others working on the same plan there. I think you can get to it by clicking on this thread. http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=117
