Okay, so...yeah. As you can see, I'm about 50 lbs overweight. The weird thing is, it doesn't really show if I'm wearing well-cut clothing. Somehow my body distributes it well enough that I still have a gently curving hourglass shape, don't ask me how. But this gave me the courage, a couple weeks ago, to drop by the auditions for a campus fashion show. And I was looking kinda ragged when I went, too. I hadn't put on any makeup, my hair was just pulled back in a plain black butterfly clip to keep it out of my way, it was a jeans-and-teeshirt day, and I was wearing flip-flops (as opposed to heels, which help you to sway better when you're walking). I just walked in with my bag and filled out the form, did the quick "state your name for the camera, now walk to that line and back to the camera, smile, get a picture, ok you're done!" I didn't figure that I'd get a callback, really. It was just on a lark. But I was proud of myself for going through with it even that far.
Well, I just got an email this afternoon. I've been picked to model for the show! I'm in shock. That was like, holy crap, apparently they saw SOMETHING in me despite my totally frumpy day I was having. Admittedly, I walk well - I modeled for my high school's fashion show my senior year, and they taught us the "catwalk walk" - and I know from the neck up I'm quite attractive. But I was just totally blown away that I got selected!
Okay, enough blathering about it. But YAY! I'm feeling very validated right now.
