Developing a self care list

  • One of the things that has really helped me over the past few months to cut down my binging is to have a *self care list*... I know that I use food emotionally and the list is about identifying and using other mechanisms to take care of that emotional stuff instead of food.... I have my list posted on the fridge - so when I feel the craziness and desire for a binge building I work through it and see if I can work on something that will help how I am feelings without the eating.

Some of the things on my list are:
~ going for a walk in the park
    ~ doing some tae bo
    ~ having a bath
~ watching a movie that makes me laugh

What would be on your list?
  • Read (at least part of) a book
    Play a game
Do a manicure/pedicure (I can't afford to HAVE it done, haha)
    Play with makeup
    Do a facial
Sing--can't eat while I'm doing that!
  • -bubble bath
    -working on a puzzle
    -cross stitching
    -reading a book
    -watching a good movie
-going for a long leisurely walk
  • 1. Writing in my journal
    2. Doing Bible study
    3. Clean out my car/my purse/my bedroom/the kitchen--all that makes me feel better
  • Good thread, great ideas.

    - writing in my journal and reading it as well - this can really stave off a binge.
    - straightening up my home, something I actually enjoy
    - reading
    - going on the computer to visit 3FC
    - exercising
    - having a glass of ice water
  • got to the library to look for books
or for that matter any shop , I'm hopeless at making up my mind and it can take ages. Some times I just give up and go home without buying anything, but it sure takes up time and ocupies my mind .
