Need Help

  • Hi, I'm new to this site and really need help getting back on program. I started in August and have lost 15 lbs so far, but ended up having knee surgery. Now I have gained back 5 lbs and will be going back to LAWW on the 17th. Scared to face the scale and COD. Any ideas would be great.
  • Welcome back! The way I see it is you are still down 10 lbs and that's great! Take pride in the fact that you are getting back on track and don't look back. Move on, slim down. Hooray for you.

Hopefully your COD isn't pushy and won't start to suggest you need a bunch of supplements; they may suggest Take Off - at least that's what my center suggests. If you don't want to do Take Off with the juice, use oranges or cantalope.
  • Welcome just for fun! 15 lbs is great! Sorry to hear knee surgery was required...hope all is healing well. It is easy to gain while on meds, not to mention that it being knee surgery you probably haven't been moving to much. I wouldn't get to bummed over the gain and just concentrate on getting better, did you talk to your COD about holding on your weight loss weeks? They will/can freeze your weeks for certain things and that way those weeks will still be there when you return....As far as weight gain goes try some lemon water and stick to the lighter choices of foods...or try TO to get your body back in the saddle so to speak. I am not as knowledgeable as some of these girls so I am sure they will have more advise then I. Join us over in the LAWL Losers and Friends Forum, that's where most of the chatting goes on. Good luck!
  • I agree with Michelle and Joni! (no surprise there!) Face the scale AND COD and go on from there- forward and downward (in weight that is!) I can relate to the knee surgery, although both of mine have been severe sprains and therefore no surgery... Left in on January - took 6 months to heal (my weight didn't help matters) and then did the right one the end of June and STILL suffering...
You are definitely limited in movement, so I think a 5 pound gain is not soooo bad! The important thing is to jump right back in and get busy!!!
    Welcome back!
  • Remember it might be embarrassing. But think how sick you would be if you let the fear of facing the scale and the "wrath of the COD" and have to relose the rest of the 15 plus more. Try to reward yourself for this big step, because it is embarrassing to swallow your pride, admit your 5 pound gain (which btw isn't much-you can lose it probably the 1st week back) and get back in the game! You can do it
  • Welcome Justforfun!!! Hopefully, your COD will be supportive and encouraging of your choice to get back on track. It takes a lot of courage to walk through those doors when you know you haven't been doing so well. I know it took a lot of courage for me to go the first time. Just try to remember.......they are there to help you. And if you get a crabby counselor........request a different one for your next visit and come right back and tell us all about it. It is so nice to have all of these strong women to lean on. It feels good to just say what is on your mind, and know that everyone here does the same thing Don't worry.....we've got your back
