My Birthday Challenge

  • Hey everybody,

My names Gino and this is my first post on this website. I have been reading post and threads for the last couple of months but decided today was the day to sign up and issue myself a challenge because next tuesday is my 24th birthday, and I would love if I could stick to a diet for just one week. I know that if I can one week, I can go another.... and so forth.

One question I have for everyone is what do you do when you really want to stay on point(no pun intended) but distractions seem to get in the way?

My biggest issue is not what I eat here at work(desk job), but when I go home and it seems like theres nothing left do right before I go to sleep. Nighttime is my biggest weakness.

Again, this is my first post so Im not exactly sure what Im supposed to say or ask. All i know is that I will stick to my diet for one week, the day before my birthday. So please , I really appreciate any comments or suggestions and motivation.

thanks everybody, and i wish everyone a good monday

  • My name is Gina! Close to Gino

One thing I have to do when I have those "bored" moments is keep myself preoccupied, especially my hands. This weekend I'm going to go buy the makings of some cross stitch projects so I can do those while I watch TV. I can't eat while I do them because I have to keep my hands very clean. If my hands get oily, etc it can ruin my project.

I've also done things like play solitaire, do puzzles, or write to keep myself busy. You could also do exercise if thats possible for you.

Also, one suggestion I can't stress enough is planning ahead. If you know you are going to want a snack at 7pm, make sure you plan it in your day's points. If you don't you are setting yourself up for failure. I also have a rule I try to go by - no eating 2-3 hours before bed. It helps me to not get into the "snacking binge" too late.

    Just some ideas
  • haha, Thanks for the advice Gina,

You wouldnt believe this, but I have a sister named Gina too!

I think your right, If I plan ahead and know Im going to snack later, i wont go over points and it will make before bed an easier task for me. Good idea with keeping my hands busy, unfortunately the only I hobbie I really have is sitting in front of a computer and do some design work, this makes it real easy to snack on a little something which then becomes alotta something. I think I need to set a cut off date. perhaps 830 or 9 oclock.

Thanks for the comment and good luck!
  • Stayed on points yesterday

I ended up eating some more baked chips - 2pts

then I finished the night with workout(weights,20 mins cardio)

    dinner I had 2 boneless chicken breast- 4pts x 2 = 8pts

and one plain potato with garlice and other good spices

finished off the day with 25 points and 3 left over + the workout

    Day 1 is down.

Today i started by waking up at 6 oclock this moring and went to the gym, (weights, 20 mins cardio)

    Breakfast was good

2 eggs sunny side up, 2 pieces of slim toast, spices, 4 very thins slices of deli chicken, and a pinch of graded cheddar cheese( I eat this all the time, its very filling and I gotta say I make it taste pretty damn good without going overboard on points. This was only 7 points!

So day 2 is starting off very well, I've also already had two waters.

Well I hope everyone here has a great day!
