Featherweight Newbie!

  • Hello everyone! My name is Katie and I'm an 18 year old college student. I've been trying to lose weight since 2002, but I always yo-yoed back up to near my original weight. I started yet again in in January 2006. I joined 3FC and began working out and counting calories. However, I started college early (summer semester) and my weight loss stalled.. let just say I'm very good at making excuses. I can't count calories because the dining hall food's calories are a mystery, so I just try to choose the healthiest things I can find and eat in moderation. My college's (very nice) gym is awesome, but it is across campus and I don't enjoy walking in the cold (we aren't allowed cars our first year). Luckily, some workout equipment appeared in my dorm's lounge, so I've been using the elliptical and the bike (not sure of the name) since 11/2. I feel better already (I can visibly see a difference!)

I kind of picked my goal weight arbitrarily, but I'm aiming for 140 - 150 pounds. Because I have about 10 - 20 pounds to lose, this forum seemed like a great place to post!

  • Hi
    Hi Katie,

I bought a book in college that I loved. It even tells you how to deal with the food in the cafeteria, and how you can work out in your dorm room.

It is the "College Dorm workout" by Joyce Vedral. It helped me maintain my weight in college. I wish I weighed now what I weighed then!

    Anyway, good luck!
