Are you Southern Calif posters OK?

  • Please be safe with all the fires around.
  • My prayers are being sent too!
  • Oh, it is so sad. Three firefighters have been killed and two critically injured. We're just east of the fire. I'm sure I'll smell the smoke this evening. I have friends that live near the area--I hope their home doesn't burn. My mom in Utah called to say that her friends from all over the country have called to ask if I am okay. I am, and the fire won't get near me, but it is still very scary.
  • I'm west of the fire, so me and mine are all okay. Just a little sniffly from the smoke and ash, blowing our way.
  • allinell and watch it break Take care of yourselves!
  • Oh Wow! I am in so cal but further away I guess! I didn't know there was a problem since I don't have tv! Keep me informed!! What city's is it in??
  • We're having fires again? I am so out of the loop.
  • Here's a link
In the event the link doesn't work, check any of the news services.

There are 4 fire fighters dead because of an arsonist.

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20061026/...socal_wildfire

From what I can understand, Riverside, San Bernadino and Palm Springs are the areas that are most affected.

Just what you people need down there, more fires.

Our little ones up here have were relatively easy to extinguish. However, we don't have the winds you do down there.
  • Thanks for asking Mare ~ Angie and I are about 80 miles west of the fires, in north San Diego county, along the coast. The smoke here is pretty heavy though considering the distance, this is because the Santa Ana winds are blowing today. I was in Los Angeles today and could see and smell smoke the entire 110 miles I headed towards home.........

but most important ~ PRAYERS FOR THE FAMILIES THAT HAVE LOST THEIR FIREFIGHTER ~ 4 SO FAR....ARSON TURNED INTO MURDER!
  • I saw this on the news earlier and it's terrible. Besides the four firefighters that lost their lives, there are over 400 people trapped in a RV park, so so sad.
  • thanks for the link... i, too, am without TV service, so i tend to be a little out of the loop.

that, and my geography is TERRIBLE! i've lived here for 3 or 4 years now, and still had to look up a map to see how far i am from LA and San Diego.

that's so sad, for all the people who have lost loved ones...
  • I hope you'll continue to be safe.

When they catch that arsonist, THEY'D BETTER NOT JUST GIVE THIS PERSON A SLAP ON THE WRIST!
  • The fifth firefighter died.

The firefighter was in his early 20s and burned over 90% of his body. He's in a better place now, but it is sad.

I heard that they have a "person of interest". I don't know when it became politically incorrect to call someone a "suspect".

If this is the arsonist, I hope they charge him with 5 murders in addition to all the property damage, loss of animals and who knows how many people had to seek medical attention because of him.

I'm glad all you So Cal posters are OK.
  • Hey MARE ~ I think the reason the news reportes are saying a "person of interest" is because the police down here are saying that that particular person IS NOT a suspect at this time. But between me and you...of course I think it is the GUY!! I HOPE SO! Quick work by the fire and law enforcement agencys.
  • That Person Of Interest Has Been Arrested As A Suspect!
