Canola oil questions..

  • I just found out that one of the healthy guidelines is the 2 teaspoons of healthy oils. I have no idea what to do with oils. I bought some canolla oil, and put it on my pasta with some garlic powder and cheese. It was okay, but tasted kind of wierd. Probably because I'm not used to it.

I hear a lot about oilive oil, but not canolla oil as far as italian foods, and cooking...but I dont' want to waste this whole bottle of canolla oil.

What is everyone else doing with canolla oil?

  • Olive oil is probably better for tossing with pasta and cheese. Canola oil is great for cooking, as an ingredient or for sauteeing, or salads, especially if it's something where the flavor of olive oil might be too much.
  • I'll just say Ditto to Suzanne's post.
  • Double Ditto... I wouldn't put canola oil on my pasta it doesn't really have any flavor! Olive oil is good for that. I like to toss some EVOO with vinegar and lemon juice and put it on salad too.. YUM Canola is good for cooking!
