Points value of Arepas?

  • Hi All:

Haven't been on 3FC in a while, but went to a football game in Miami today & I LOVE the arepas at the carts on the street corners. I estimated last year what they were, but have forgotten & can't find my trakker from back then. WW website doesn't have it on there. Anybody have any idea? I found a website w/ the nutritional info on them & it was 5 pts, but not sure if it is made the same, same size, etc.

    Thanks for any help.

  • I'm not familiar with Arepas. What are they?
  • A couple of my cooks from Venezuela (Blosmer Leon & Mayrobel Garrido) introduced me to this staple from South America. Although there are variations from country to country, arepas are basically masa (a special masa I might add) that has been mixed with water and fried. In Latin countries, they have Areparias, where you go in and get your arepa filled with a meat filling (kind of like a taqueria). I like to think of arepas as “South American Polenta.”
  • They are listed in calorie king:
