Ive already posted this question on the Dieting with Difficulties section, but I dont know if Mirena is just available in the UK, so I thought I would ask here as well
Has anyone had problems losing weight with a Mirena? Ive been looking it up on Google, and there seems to be a lot of women out there who have gained weight because of it.
It releases progesterone slowly into your system over 5 years.
Im going to the docs on Monday to see if I can get it removed, as I have gained 20kg since I have been on it - managed to lose 7kg so far, but now my weight loss seems to have got stuck.

Just my 2 cents....... I have had the mirena IUD since March 05. I went on a diet Oct 05'(I did not gain weight from March-Oct either) and have lost 70 lbs since then. So for me the IUD has been great!! i have lost weight when I tried and it wasnt tough.So The IUD has not affected my weight loss at all. You might want to have your thyroid checked. That will cause you to gaine if its not working right.
