I'm not hungry anymore!

  • For anyone who has been watching any of my posts, I went from having the worst possible diet, to trying a 1200 calorie diet, to starting WW.
I have been on WW for 2 weeks now, am down to 142, and I can NOT EAT.

I no longer think about my next meal, I no longer count my points (because I'm not eating enough anyway!)

I'm not sure if my stomach is so small now that I'm getting full with my small meals (I stopped eating breakfast, stopped eating my 3 snacks, and am lucky to finish my turkey sandwich at lunch and my chicken at dinner!)
Is this normal? I just started seeing the weight go down and I by no means wish to change the things that were helping me lose the weight, but I can't bring myself to eat when I'm just not hungry!
  • That is not so normal. I especially wouldnt skip bkf...no one is hungry for bkf, just one of those things you have to do. The sudden loss of appetite is suggestive of a medical issue if you have not started diet pills or new meds. You might want to have it checked out.
  • I agree a sudden change where you don't want to or can't eat is not normal.

You need to eat at least a minimum amount each day or your body goes into starvation mode and starts to eat lean muscle mass to survive. Which if you are not getting enough or have been eating ultra low in calories it is probably doing. You may have messed up your metabolism and need to let it adjust and start eating at least 1200-1400 calories a day.....
  • The same thing happened to me! First, every time i ate i got nauseous, then id start eating and decide i didnt want any food. That lasted about a week and a half, now its sporadic, doesnt happen every day. You might want to go to the doctor. I probably need to too.
  • kelly is absolutely correct im glad she said it and not me
  • I agree with the others. Something is up. Go get it checked out and trust me I know all about Stomach Problems! I've had them off and on since I was 16 yrs old! (31 now soon to be 32 in two weeks) When I was a teenager I was the same way, I couldn't eat, it just made me feel bad. Time went on and I finally got over it (we all figured out it was stress at the time) but later on I had more problems and they checked out my stomach and I had 7 ulcers.

Now I have Acid Reflux and am on medication for it as well as I have to watch what I eat. Not saying anything of this to scare you, but you should get it checked out. Also when you skip meals you lower your metabolism as well as your blood sugars. (I had that problem too in HS, my bs crashing from lack of eating)

Try eating small more frequent meals and go see your dr. Could be nothing, but better to be safe than sorry.

  • I have seen this happen to many people through the WW program. But you need to eat your minimum. You will not have any long term success if you don't. Even if you have to drink your milk, have a treat, whatever it takes but you need to get those minimum points in. Check your 8 healthy guidelines and make sure you are getting all that in. Eating shouldn't be an issue with this plan.
  • Just this week I have seen this happening myself....like today, I realized at 5o'clock that I still had 16 points left. And not even a tad bit hungry. So I thought about some of my favorite healthy meals & realized I always love chicken on the grill with a little cheese, some salsa & black beans.....so that's what I had. I have gotten to a point where food is not such a big deal to me....I'm just having to change the way I think about it. I hope that's makes sense.
  • Great news!
I've been really lucky. I've struggled for the last 5 years to maintain a 25lb weight loss, since my medication whacked out my hormones.
This time around, I have been happily surprised to NOT find myself hungry, not always needing ALL of my points just to survive, and not disgusted by the cult at the meetings.

    Way to go!
