    WELCOME!!
  • MOTHER – Good to see you posting again. Happy belated anniversary! Hope you two have a wonderful celebration, and another wonderful year under way! * And yes, pizza and spaghetti ARE the divil’s own carbs/fat/calories!

LILION – You ROCK!!!! woman. CONGRATS on the WHOOP-WHOOP! 89 down and breaking the “two-4-OH! Barrier! As for the housework, I didn’t lie down, but somehow I got distracted and it never happened anyway. I spent several hours working on versions of my resume and cover letter and getting a few out, then I went and did a riding lesson… I even rode a bit myself….
….Before taking myself out for Chinese food. It was planned and I’d saved some calories, but I still overdid it.

THIN – My stars, what a wreck. And Bill was just up that way yesterday. It’s nice to see they actually printed something NICE about a truck driver. Sure there are plenty of bad ones out there, but the average Driver is trying really hard to keep a mess from happening.

    GO NESSA! Peddle, girl, peddle!
  • Valerie: Depending on what time you checked that link, it has changed with more pictures and video. Tonight on the 11:00 news they interviewed the truck driver as they pulled her rig out of the ravine. She's been driving for 17 years and never had an accident. She said she could not have lived with herself if she would have hurt someone and that looked like her only option. They are calling her a hero. Nice story. Still glad it wasn't YOU!!!

I don't remember who mention they needed tips on firming, but I just posted a link to an article I found on the subject up topside in the thread entitled Helpful Links to Get You Started or to Keep You Going. I've been adding stuff up there as I find it. Here's the link to the firming article so you don't have to go hunt for it, but check out the other stuff up there when you get a chance. http://health.msn.com/dietfitness/ar...ntid=100132929
  • good morning everyone. still raining here.
  • Good Morning Ladies!

Thin – LOVED the Taco Soup. It was a little spicy, but not TOO bad. I didn't use your recipe really…but it was close. Mine called for 1 lb of ground beef, three cans of beans (pinto, kidney and chili) and a can of rotel and a can of corn and taco seasoning and ranch dressing mix. I actually used a can each of diced tomatoes and rotel. It was very thick and chili-like. I think next time I'll just use diced tomatoes instead of rotel. I'll be making it again…and probably "tweek" it a bit. And thanks very much for the firming link! I'll check it out asap!

Mother – I had pizza the other day! A thin-crust Canadian bacon isn't too bad at all, as fattening things go. We get that and mushrooms (and hubby gets ½ with other veggies, but I'm not a veggie-pizza girl) and then we get our DS whatever he wants. We did that the other day when he had a friend over and the boys wanted pizza for dinner. BUT, it is a rare treat. I do love a greasy slice of pizza!

    Nessa & Valerie -

Well ladies, I'm about late and really can't be today, so I'll head out now and come back later! to you all!
  • Hi, I'm new - I think I'm in the right place
I just registered but have been using this website off and on for quite a few years.

    I'm 43, married (1 year-first marriage-no kids) and have gained 145 lbs over the past 3 years.

I got sick 3 years ago and was diagnosed with "Chronic Fatigue Syndrome" (STUPID name) after many months of horrible tests and too many doctors.

I lost my job in 2004 ("downsized") and just won my case for Social Security Disability in June.

These past 3 years have been a nightmare both physically and mentally.

I am HORRIFIED by the way I look and find it hard to completely accept that I weigh so much.

I was never skinny, but this is truly frightening. I'm scared I'm going to die.

I am at the point where I am embarrassed to be in public. I can barely walk.

I am hoping to find the strength and support to JUST GET STARTED.

Looking forward to getting to know you.

Anyone want to show me around?
  • 4Me: First off, WELCOME to our little corner of the Boards. I'll send you a PM in a minute that will give you a brief overview of what you can find here in the 300+ area. We're happy to have you with us. I can only imagine your past couple of years, especially fighting for the disability. I have lived it through friends of mine who have now finally exhausted all of their appeals and have still been denied. Thank goodness you got yours! The process is horrible. Come back often and chat with us. You'll feel like an old friend before you know it. There are several girls here that have just joined us recently and then others, like myself, that have been here since the beginning. Glad to have you joining us.
  • Ola Chickies!

Well, I had a whole post of replies and then my computer froze Not going to do it again. Oh well...everything is fine here, finally hitting my stride with work, school and cooking. I think I can do this!

4MeNow! You've come to the right place!

    Have a great day!
  • Karen: I hate when the computer freezes up. Mine's been running really slow lately. Time for an upgrade??? I'll have to call my computer geek son and see what he can do.

Ok, where are all my Survivor buddies??? Are we ready for the new season??? Should be interesting. Lots of controversy.

I'll be back later. Yes, that's a warning AND a threat.
  • Hi everybody! Welcome 4MeNow! I have to catch up on this thread and I think the thread before, too.

    Love,
    Celery
  • Hi everyone! I've been quite lazy these past couple of days. Didn't do a dang thing yesterday at all.

Today I did get dressed and ran out to do a couple of jobs. Then the Fashion Bug called my name so I stopped in with a couple of coupons. Found myself a cute sparkly jacket that zips up the front. I'm thinking with the zipper that it doesn't have to just be for "fancy" occasions, I could probably wear it throughout the holidays. Then I found a really cute sweatshirt hoodie, but the store I was at didn't have my size so I asked if they could call another store and they did find one on completely the other side of town. So off I trotted to pick that up. It's black, has a zippered front with studding down the front and around the hood. The inside of the hood is a wine color and there's a wine rose on the left chest. I was able to find a short sleeve tee shirt in wine to go with it that has a V-neck with studding around it. They go really nice together.

Somebody asked yesterday if Bob Seger was still with the Silver Bullet Band and yes, he is. He's on Jay Leno right NOW! Jay said this is the first time Seger has performed on network TV.

The scale was kind this morning. That was a nice surprise. I've been workin' it, but not workin' it hard.

Celery: Nice to see you checking in.

Valerie: I was wondering where you were all day but I just saw your rant on the other thread. Hugs, sweetie!!! [[[hugs]]]

Ok, girls, I'm gonna head to bed. See you all later. Love ya bunches!
  • Hi ladies,

I'm taking a half-day off this morning. Cleaning house. We're having the Assoc Pastor and his wife and kids over for dinner tonight. She's the one I'm really close to at the old church. They are having trouble with the oldest son, who has moved out at 17, so they really need to get away. I think we'll mess with the horses, have lasagna, and then fireworks tonight. The joy of being in the country - no restrictions.

I have meetings this afternoon or else I'd bail out for the rest of the day.

    Good mental health morning.

I need to get to hopping so that I actually accomplish something.

    Just wanted to say HI!
  • Good Morning Ladies!

I'm TIRED today! Stupid woman that I am - I stayed up to 12:30 watching the 40 year old virgin. I thought it wouldn't be any good, but it was actually quite funny if you can ignore a lot of crudeness. I got home, made soup, did dishes, dug 1/2 composed straw out of my compost pile and scattered it on the bare spots of our lawn that were reseeded yesterday and then had to water the whole lawn. Doesn't sound like much, but it involved moving the darn sprinklers about 6 times to get the whole thing watered-so it took the whole evening! Of course, now we're going out of town for two nights so the darn seed probably won't sprout anyway! Anyhow, it was nearly 10 by the time I got any "me" time and I sat down and started channel surfing. In the end I finally got to bed at nearly one and I'm regreting it.

Oh! And I missed Survivor! So did the contestant's know in advance they were being divided by race? How'd they take it? Can't believe I forgot it!

I'm taking off work by 3 today so we can get out of town at a reasonable time. We're doing an SCA event NE of KC this weekend. I hear it's going to rain - lovely. But we'll see.

to 4meNow! There are lots of ladies here that give great support!

I hope everyone is well - I'm afraid I'm now officially out of time to do any more replies and have to get a hearing started! So take care my lovely ladies if I don't make it back until Monday! Kisses!

    BEWARE of bagged Spinach!

There has been an E. coli outbreak and they are saying to avoid bagged spinach. This would probably include spinach that you would get when out, salad bars, etc. because I'm sure they probably use the convenience of the bagged stuff. Here is a link to the news article. It was updated 16 minutes ago, as you can see, so it's pretty up-to-date. They recommend that you throw out any bagged spinach you have in the house.

  • Thank you for the alert. I saw it on the news last night. Unfortunately that was AFTER I asked the husband to buy some for my lunch today. Good news is that I saw it before today!

I eat that a few times a week, so I guess I should be glad we had no food in the house for a while.

I lost 2 pounds! Whether it's water or whatever, I don't care! I will take it and I will do a Happy Dance in celebration.

Don't you wish the pounds would just keep coming off like that? At this weight I think I could stand to lose 2 lbs a day for a month or 2.

Nothing much happening here. It's raining again. Just another day in Paradise.

    Thanks for the great welcome.

    Christine
