We want to invite everyone to join us in our journey.
    We share laughter and tears.
We share what works for us and what doesn't.
We often use a "Topic of the Day" for discussion.

    Thankful Thursday
FUN Friday ... don't wait until you lose your weight.

These are not required topics ...just ideas to share. We often find them very helpful. We also share heartaches and fears ... joys and celebrations.

We have several extra threads going on simutaneously such as Monthly Challenges, Weekly Weigh-ins, Recipes, Bios, and more. Please feel free to check them all out.

we have found it to become a home. We invite you to join us.

    WELCOME!

I know you'll all agree that we are really thankful for the free services here at 3FC. The sisters offer all of this support and information with no charges to us. There are a couple of ways though that we can help out.

If you are thinking about buying anything at Amazon, why not help out 3FC at the same time? You can do this by clicking on the button for the Amazon "store" in the upper right hand corner of the screen on the PURPLE tool bar. A portion of your purchase price will be given to 3FC by Amazon. It doesn't increase your price at all, but it does help out 3FC. You can use any of the Amazon.com links that you see on the site in order to help contribute to the site.

Also, BTW, in case you didn't know it, you can view the message boards "ad free" for a minimal charge. I think it's like $15 for 6 months. A very small investment to be rid of the annoying ads and make your pages load quicker.

There have been some concerns expressed by the powers that be about copyright infringement. So please, if you are directly quoting someone else or printing an article in whole or in part, please give credit where credit is due!!!!
  • Lilion - I miss a few of the ladies that used to write here often, especially Catherine. I just hope she is busy enjoying married life rather than having fallen off the diet wagon.

That's wonderful that you are in size 18s, I think I was 16 when I could last buy that size. I wonder how long it will be until I can get in that size again?

Patti - thank you I am feeling fine today thank goodness. A bit tired, but then that's what I get for being HOOKED on SIMS lol. I was playing the thing DS til 1.30 in the morning. Woops, naughty me. How are you enjoying Spyro?

Nelie - I am sure you will get through your mental block, especially with your wedding on the horizon Where are you going to be getting married?

Sharon - I understood what you said about when you weighed and when you will weigh I bet you will have lost that last lb AND some more besides.

I am just 7 lbs heavier than you and yet you are in size 18s and I am in 28s. Crazy isn't it. I don't think 7 more lbs off will get me into such a wonderful size. I wonder what I will have to weigh to get into clothes that size? No worries I don't think I will catch up with you because as I lose my weight you will be losing too

Brenda - HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, 5 years, that's wonderful Shame you have to work but I am sure you will have a wonderful anniversary anyway, especially if you can show hubby the other ways to celebrate the day instead of food

Halloweengirl - where are you getting married in Vegas? Hubby and I got married in Little Chapel of the Flowers in 2002. It is such a pretty place, the minister was wonderful, and the day was just magical. It was just me, hubby, and a friend, oh and anybody who wanted to watch on the Internet I still chose a gorgeous white wedding dress, who says you can't dress up even if you aren't having a huge do lol.

losing as much as you can of the 30 lbs before your big day. Men are notorious for losing weight quicker than women, so I reckon your fiance should have to lose 10 lbs more than you

    Bye for now,

    Hugs,

    Ammi
  • Ammi those DS games are so addictive lol. i cant keep my hands off.. spyro is so cute !
  • Happy Anniversary Brenda!!!!!

I hope you found 'some' way to celebrate, even if you had to fit it in around work. I hope you had a fun time at work. I look forward to hearing what shopping you did.

Oh... and WELL DONE on the 2lbs!!! As you said, that was a great anniversary present.

    Take care,

    Zelma
  • Hello everyone! today was much better than yesterday. I worked like crazy again today and at 12:40 I ran to the cafteria to eat before a 1p meeting, which meant just grabing something from that fast aisle- not my best choice but today wasn't as bad as usal- a taco salad. I also got a cup of fruit. I don't really know what kind of damage that will do , as the taco meat was greasy- so probably pretty bad...

I also did 60 minutes on a elliptical...I really hate machines, but i set myself 60 minutes and refused to stop. I wish they had classes on Fridays I weighed in, and no difference from wednesday- but I should probably just be thankful, seeing as this week has been less than splendid. I really need to get back on track. I haven't had any straight up horrible off track days, but not too many 100% on either.

sorry I don't have time for personals- I have so much school work to do, and when I got home from the gym I fell asleep again- I'm starting to think I am really overdoing it--hopefully I can keep this pace up till december...

Have a great rest the day chickies!
  • Oh Kimberly-- i am so happy for you. I so dislike the elliptical but I do like the treadmil. Anyway keep up the good work on the machine-- I like you need to go and crack the books
  • Hi Everyone,

    Kimpossible
Wow girl good for you on fighting off a burger attack!
That took some strength and you did it!

Re your question on the "treat meal"...
Well here's how that came to be... back in 2001 I joined a gym and started doing the Body for life program. That program has you on a 6 days on, 1 day "off" regimen, meaning that you eat TOTALLY strict for 6 days and then 1 day of your choice (the same day though, if you can) you eat whatever you want. Now, I did lose 60 pounds overall on this plan, so yes it does work. BUT I found that my cravings were still there, and I found I just 'white knuckled' my way through the week so that I could get to the Sunday when I would just PIG OUT. I'm sure that I ruined most of my week's progress by doing this. See, it's all in the interpretation, I think. The BFL program does say "eat what you want on Sunday", but does not say "go crazy, eat eat eat!" on the day off. So, I lost weight, but I think I overall ate more calories than I am eating now.

So, this time around I use a lot of the principles of the BFL program that I found worked for me, and the "one day off" is now different. I don't _require_ myself to exercise on that day but it's not written in stone. If I feel like a walk, I go for one. My treat meal is reserved for dinner (supper) time. I eat regularly (on plan) for the other parts of the day. I eat one meal, a reasonable sized meal, and it could be steak and french fries, or whatever I had been thinking of during the week. I usually have one small chocolate bar at some point during the day too... usually a Mars bar because they are not AS high in fat/calories as some of the larger ones.
that keeps my junk food fever in check.

I keep my whole day's calories still well under 2000 for the day, since my regular day's calorie count is usually around 1300-1600. My fat g's on a regular day I keep around 30, and on the "treat meal" day they are usually 60. *** I have to stress that though this tactic DOES seem to work for me.. it may not work for all. Approach with caution! ***
The key too is not to add extra appetizers, I never have those.

    Nolifewithouthorses/Valerie
Haha sorry on the 'truckin' thing. Yeah you know I didn't mean literally though! Sounds like your weekend is off to a good start,
with all of the activity you had yesterday. The blender to mentioned, is it the magic bullet? We have one of those too. They are pretty good, so
I put my big blender away in the basement.

    Princesspuffypants
Yeah I wanted to add to I think your friend is a cutie!
Sorry you did not get a call back. I hope you don't feel too bummed.

    rkrs6673
How are you holding up with your hubby gone?
How much longer before he comes back?

    Nelie
Sorry to hear you're having a bit of a struggle
WOW girl I see you lost 96 pounds already...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!
    YIKES thats amazing!!!!
And congrats to you on the upcoming marriage too!!

    Ladybugnessa
Welcome! to the group!! Congrats on your losses so far, awesome!!

    Lillion
Congrats on 'mistakenly' sliding into the size 18 and not even noticing!!
I know what you mean about that too tight to sit down thing though.. ugh
that feels awful. But you're in an 18 so woo hoo!!!

    Brenda
Congrats on your wedding anniv. and the weight loss you received!

    Halloweengirl
Congrats on your upcoming wedding! My husband and I also got married
in Las Vegas, last year at the end of May. OH it can be hot there in the summer! Great that your DF is doing this with you, what a sweetheart!

I had a good day today.. keeping on plan all day!
We're going for a walk after dinner which I look forward to.
Sorry I didn't mention everyone but darnit I'm getting cut short, hubby is saying "huuunnyyy whatcha doooinnng" so I better run now!
Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!!!!!
    ~Angie
  • Angie-- Good job with keeping on plan. hubby comes home on September 22 i can't wait.. ok ladies I am really going to go and study now
  • Well, I had a huge crash yesterday, which just goes to show that I definitely use food for comfort. My kids were hyper yesterday, so my day seemed incredibly long. Then, I went to my second job, which is proving to be a disaster. The woman who runs the show just can't get it together, so I ended up tutoring 8 kids instead of the 3 I should have had. This may not seem excessive, except these are not "easy" kids and each were working on different programs, had different ages, etc. So after job 2, went home and quickly got my trash together and went to the dump before they closed. My new eating habits have resulted in fewer trips to the dump, as I'm not eating nearly as much processed foods. However, in the last 3 weeks, they have apparently changed how they collect recycling. The recycling guy yelled at me and threatened not to take any of my trash, which of course made the day worse. FINALLY, I left the dump (annoyed) and decided to go walk my dog at this local church. Well, I was asked to leave because my dog and I were "disturbing" bible study by walking around the huge building/parking lot. (How we were disturbing I did not ask.)

This story is getting long. To cut to the chase, I went and bought B&J chocolate fudge brownie ice cream and ate half. I woke up this morning SO mad at myself that I immediately threw the other half down the drain.

So, while it was a good thing I got rid of 1/2 of the ice cream, I just wish the "I feel bad so I must eat something good" pattern didn't exist.

And like many of you here, once I have sugar and sweets, it makes it harder to eat healthy, as now I am craving it.

Oh well, I am traveling a few hours tomorrow to visit a friend and I know we are hiking, so the weekend will be good. I hope everyone has an equally successful weekend.
  • Evening all!

Does anyone else here have major brain spasms when you go out to eat? I did SO well today. Was up to 17 pts out of 28 - plenty for dinner. Then we went out to a restaurant I heard had great boiled/broiled shrimp. Shrimp is good, right? 1/2 cup of the little suckers only 1 teeny tiny point! So I had shrimp...and waffle fries with cheese...and fried gizzards with ranch dressing as an appetizer. I'm miserably full and have NO IDEA how many points I had! I'm such an idiot!

Just did the points - I figure I had about a 24 pt dinner. That gives me 41 for the day and 18 flex points left for the week. Not as bad as I'd thought...but still...just stupid!
  • Lilion-- Yah, I have been doing so well avoiding treats at work and today had not one but two of these coconut-butterscotch-chocolate chip things someone brought in. And I was congratulating myself at how well I've been avoiding. Yep, still got some issues there!
  • Val - What a great thing to do .. would LOVE to be a secret shopper ... so many times I go into places and start judging them rofl ... Lots of great news for you for sure .. esp getting most of the financial ones sorted out .. definitely a weight off your mind Im sure Great work youre doing hun .. Keep it up! Oh and kewl about the blender .. I got one of those Magic Bullets .. boy are they a lot easier to clean than a big blender!! Excellent ... and if you find a dishwasher that loads itself and puts everything away after its dry .. can you send it over here??

Kim - Its great that you have managed to do so much and even better than you arent giving in ... youre right .. tomorrow is another day for sure My dad has always wanted a Log Cabin too

Luan - ROFL ... okee .. covered their ears and eyes .. they will never know you ate a relative rofl ... my hunny is just as bad ... he LOVES lamb. mutton .. whatever .. but its something that I wont even prepare let alone eat lol

Sharon - Sorry to hear you still havent got down to your pre hol weight .. but hun its coming off and Im sure you will be on your weight downward spiral again soon Im feeling guilty for having Richard here now .. do you want me to send him back to you?? Keep up the great work hun.

Jill - well done hun on keeping to your walking ... Im sure it will make a big difference for you .. take it easy and dont work too hard!

2F4U - Great news on getting almost within tick of your ticker hun!! I managed to get back down to mine according to the scales this morning .. so Im hoping that TwoTown is gonna be my location next week Keep up the great work!

Misti - Honest .. FFM isnt over here in NZ .. at least not at my house .. she did stop by to lend me 4 pounds last week .. but I sent them back to her by this morning .. hopefully she will stop by next week to take a few more to give to some skinny chick that always looked down their nose at my size (rofl ,.. gawd that sound vindictive .. bad Katt!) ... hopefully she will visit you again soon ... youre doing so well!

Zelma - great news about the photo session ... are you getting excited yet?? I know I keep watching the boards to see what your news is rofl .. cant wait to see what pics you can show us

Nelie - Hun you are doing fantastic .. and at those "struggle" times you are doing exactly what you should be .. taking 1 day at a time No guilt remember ... every day is a new start and yesterday is a lesson .. Huggies!

Nessa - HIIII and welcome to the board!! You are doing fantastic and you have come to the best place for super support and news, info, help .. general gabbing lol .. look forward to seeing you on the boards

Ammi - My hunny isnt the hunk that others would think .. but I wouldnt want to live a day without knowing he is my hunny that is for sure .. definitely found my soul mate .. and that was after a bunch of toads (no .. not frogs .. definitely toads rofl) ...

I did manage to get everything cleaned up and it all looked lovely until after dinner rofl ... well .. the kitchen anyway .. the rest is still looking ok fortunately rofl. I hate cleaning but it kept me active all day Friday so I know I burned a few calories there

Dad hasnt officially lost the house yet .. but its so much stress and money fighting for them place that I said to dad cut the losses life is too short to live under constant stress and battling, so Scoot (my hunny Richard goes by that name to everyone but his family lol) and I went back to the showhome today to talk to the ppl there and we got the plans sorted out with the sort of changes and all that we would want made so now we have to wait for those designs .. then get the valuer round so we can get the estimated values done to give to the bank .. lots of things to get done in the next few weeks .. ah well .. always good to keep busy Will have to remember to take pics of the different stages

Val & Ammi - I have daschund/Chihuahuas .. and my boy can swim for NZ!! rofl .. we have a river near us and if the little so and so goes in he is impossible to get back out ... at least you can get him out but he keeps going back in!! Very annoying lol .. we did have to get in to save him in the end each time tho because he has the chi breathing problems when he gets over-exerted .... and the attempt of drinking the river usually does that rofl.

Lilion - Yes ... mushrooms .. thinking of those I gonna have to start peeling em soon too Well done on the size 18 ... seems a long way away for me .. but its always encouraging when I see others get there And extra well done for avoiding the donuts .. what an evil temptation to put outside your door rofl

Brenda - HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!! Definitely a nice and inexpensive pressie to get too!! lol . .. keep up the great work!

Halloweengirl - Dont panic .. TOM is definitely an annoying visitor and never a friendly one either! Well ... rarely lol .. just keep telling yourself that while TOM is visiting its bought all that extra baggage, and when it goes .. so will the baggage .. stay OP and you will be happy you did for sure

Jen - Sorry to hear about your emotional binge ... its a sod when that happens but be proud of yourself for the throwing away of half the ice cream rather than regretting the other half ... if it was me I just couldnt have thrown it away ... actually . I still have ice cream in my freezer but its right at the back so I dont see it rofl... Well done hunny!

Well ... I hope I havent missed anyone .. weekends are hard for me to keep up with everything cos its my hunny and me time ... but as he is on his comp doing lord knows what I get to get on my one rofl ...

Today was a busy day out and about ... and I didnt get much sleep last night (had 2 sick kids!) This morning Scoot went and took me to get my hair done ... its had about 5 inches off the length and I have a fringe for the first time in YEARS!!! I used to hide behind my hair .. so it was a big thing to have it cut lol .. also had red and blonde foils put in too! Looks really good Will see if my hunny will take a pic of it and I will post it (with my double chins lol).

Then we went round and picked up my best friend so she could come for a visit (and see my lambies) but we went to see the show home for the log cabin for my dad first. We spent over an hour there talking to the designer about the changes and options etc and got a basic idea for the new plans, so he is going to draw them up for us to go to the bank with after the valuer has been. Then as we were running well late we stopped by our house to pick up my friends son (who was staying with us) and we all went to subway (bad me lol ... but its my weekly treat) .. so I had 2 6" wheat breads .... I think the total was about 3200kj (so thats about 765cal), not too bad ... my dinner is only going to be about 1600kj and breakfast was less than 1000 ... so Im still under my 7000kj that I try to stick to (thats about 1675 calories I think?).

Anyway ... today is going well ... I dont do exercise on Sat/Sun ... but I also cut back my intake on the weekend to accommodate the fact Im not lol .. tomorrow is Daffodil Festival in the next town where we used to live . I have never actually been to one cos I was always working lol .. just have to avoid the hot dog/candyfloss stand lol ... hold my nose then too!

Great work everyone .. sorrry for the long post .. so hard trying to keep up

    Have a great weekend, HUGGIES!
  • Thanks for the wedding wishes :)
Ammi, we're just having a "courthouse" wedding, as we are not religious, and we're also cheap, LOL. Well, not so much cheap, as we just prefer to spend our money elsewhere in Sin City :-P

3 months! Wow! It snuck up on me!
  • Well I've been getting to sleep straight away when I get into bed, I'm so tired, woke up this morning as Steve got in from nights and Gareth joined us in bed. I was half asleep as he threw his Telletubby (sp?) at me, it hit the bone in the corner of my eye and made me cry! This upset him & he started screraming 'NO NO NONO!!' It looks like I'm getting a black eye too! He couldn't have thrown another Telletubby, it had to be the heavy one which sings! (that's why it's heavy; all those electronics)
Anyway.....Ammi weight & size are weird but I know you will be in those 20's before long AND that you will be lighter than me pretty soon too.xxxx
Kim, WTG on exercising even though you Hate that piece of equipment! I don't know how you fit in work, study AND exercise!!xxxx
Alice, I know how you feel with crazy kids, mine drove me to drink through the Summer holidays, lol, thank God one's back at school & the other starts nursery in a week or two. It must be doubly hard when people don't do their jobs!xxxx
Lilion, I have the same thing, start out with a good plan on what to eat, THEN TOTALLY LOOSE IT! Fried gizzards, are they what I think they are? Real animal insides? I would rather have salad any day if that's the case, lol!xxxx
Katt, no thanks, you keep Richard, he's WAY TO PERKY FOR ME!!! I just don't 'feel' like exercising at the moment, so I go for a walk instead, that's gotta be better than sitting on the pc, right? I hope everything goes well with your dad and planning permission/financing. I'm so glad my parents are still together, as there's no way I'd have my dad living at the bottom of our garden, he moans and grumps for England!!xxxx
Halloweengal, I hope you get the weight and everything else sorted out in time. Do you have any idea of what you'll wear on the big day?
It looks like that pound has gone, though whether I can 'sneak' another one in for tomorrow's WI I don't know. TOM still hasn't arrived, but I'm feeling it, lol.
    xxxsharon
  • Good morning, everyone!

And yes, Happy Anniversary, Brenda! (Late... sorry).

Kim you are doing great... way to go!

Alice, sorry you had the experience of the church not allowing you to walk on your property. Sad how some of them miss the whole point! I'm blessed to be a part of a church with the opposite mentality... they put up basketball goals in our parking lot so the neighborhood kids would have a place to play. If we go at times when they are out there, we watch where we park so we don't get a ball through our window.

Well, this morning is my first actual class in water aerobics, and first time trying them deep water! My friend is meeting me at the pool a bit before 7 for the 45 minute lap swim... then we take the hour-plus class. Should be interesting!!
